Occasionally while delivering multi stop loads of kitchen cabinets or office furniture to site we would have to blind side in somewhere, like NYC or some other burg with the most impatient drivers in the land. I don't care how many times you blow your g...am horn. I didn't design this town. Same goes for low underpasses that I crawl under with my flashers on. Sound your horn and wave your finger. it isn't my bridge that is in the way.

I like to snag a spot next to two trucks that are already in for the night. More likely they won't be moving before me.

I don't run hazmat, but I think I NEED those placards!

Coop Officer #1: "we gonna Level 1 this truck Jeff?"

Coop Officer #2: "are you kidding Jerry? I've inspected bio hazard, radioactive, flammable, poison, caustic, and that nasty stuff you can't get wet. If OSHA can't figure out what the heck it is I don't wanna know!"

I have but only if I absolutely have to. I go out of my way to avoid it, not worth the risk. Like someone said, you're not gonna get a bonus or a cute little trophy for doing so, just do your job...

If I couldn't find a place with easy backing I would go elsewhere unless its an area where parking is limited no matter where ya go like all of the lower northeast.

I always go by the rule that if you think you're making it, that's no good.
You have to KNOW you're making it.

I had to blind side back my carhauler into dealerships almost daily, but I was setup to cheat with back windows in my sleeper. Still didn't like it, especially coming off 2 or 4 lane major highways with impatient people trying to squeeze past you front and rear, or worse yet trying to come out of the driveway I am backing into.

That said, you don't have anything to prove by trying for the most difficult spot in the lot. When I was young and first started out I used to intentionally take the hard spots just to show off, that or catch as many gears as I could pulling up, real a-hole stuff that I complain about now. I finally learned I didn't have to prove myself, and actually I was being more of a professional by not taking the hard or dangerous spots. The lessons we learn with age and experience.

I blind side a lot of the time even tho I'm always heavy n oversize. Practice makes perfect n I can just about back as good on the blind as the easy side. Even with a single or tandem jeep. Same with B trains.

Life is all about managing risks. Why make the riskier move if unnecessary.

Ya,like an "Old Dinosaur" taught me.This guy really knew his Sh.t.He says"Just like Electricity Always take the Path of Least Resistance".Did I listen to him? You bet.He had 3 million miles of Accident Free driving under His Belt around 30 year Span.Room permitting...Never blindside if you can help it.Try to keep a Lot of trailer in your Mirrors...just Basic Stuff. That Works.
