The shop said 'After Treatment' was very poor or low efficiency. Yet there wasn't buildup in the DEF tank and testing the DEF fluid didn't show anything. Afterwards, they did a Regen and the faults started to clear. Then just to be sure, they did another partial Regen.
Truck is Fixed, but wish a more definitive reason for the Derate problem was revealed. Possibly it was related the the DEF I bought at that fuel stop. I dunno.
DEF led blinking. At 25% Derate.

Could be a bad wiring harness for one of the components of the DEF system. Had that happen a few times.
The first time an injector had dripped DEF all over the wiring connector and corroded it. Another time the insulation of a wire had rubbed off, causing a short for the DEF pump.Tez78malone and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Figures first thing after truck is fixed I go sit at one of the slowest customers. Waited hours for a dock, now waiting for the lumpers.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I dealt with a similar problem on a Cascadia. It was determined that the nox sensors were bad. They were apparently sending a faulty reading to the computer, which in turn thought there was a problem with the DEF system. Big mess of nonsense IMO, but I don't know if the n0x sensors fixed the problem since I never got back into that pos truck again.

Truck ran fine for a while, until I did another heavy load in Pennsylvania hills.
Didn't wait for it to Derate. Did a Regen and check engine light and DEF warning light went off. A yellow engine light not labeled stayed on. Delivered then did a long deadhead to pickup a lite load in New York. During that trip, the plain yellow light next to the check engine light went off.
During all this, I didn't see a DPF light come on.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
What year and how many miles on the truck?
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Went through the same scenario a few years ago.
Replaced sensors, did regens, had filters cleaned not once but twice.
Everything OK for a while. Coming through Janesville, WI, both engine lights came on, started derating the engine. Went straight to shop.
Tested engine per guidelines of Cummins.
Cleaned filers, tried again.
Replaced sensors, tried again.
Wouldn't pass test.
They sent all reports to Cummins.
Particulate filter had complete failure.
Had to order new one.
3 weeks in a hotel, 7200+ later in repairs, mostay under warranty, truck ran like it was brand new.Oldironfan and VIDEODROME Thank this. -
I'm back my home terminal wondering if I should suggest switching trucks if this is a long repair.
Also, neither the air conditioning or APU work.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Lol. Um no ac? It was 90 just south of Chicago yesterday.Oldironfan Thanks this.

Yeah it sucks. Most nights have been cool enough to sleep, but it's been warming up.
They've been doing a half-assed repair attempt just recharging it, then it just leaks out.Oldironfan and 77fib77 Thank this.
