I am the CFO of a company that has been in Logistics brokering, AND owns a small fleet of trucks, employing drivers. Our trucks are used for dedicated local routes, and the drivers go home everyday, and all but one route allows our drivers to go home on weekends.
It is my opinion that we would be much better off farming these routes out to Owner Operators.
SO My Question is this: What would I have to offer a owner operator to accept a dedicated local route, what perks would you want to see, I have already listed nights and weekends off, but what else would appeal to a O/O enough to enter into a contracted full time route.
(consider that a lot of these routes are low mileage, local so we would have to pay per route not per mile. but that would also be less maintenance, fuel etc on you truck)
Thanks so much for your opinions
Kathy
Desperately need your opinion!!!

I'm not an o/o yet, Kathy, but I did want to say thank you for this post. It's nice to see a corporate owner that genuinely cares for the opinions of potential employers and offiliates. Best of wishes to your business
MidwestResident Thanks this. -
More money than the carrier could make doing other dedicated work or doing assorted loads for different enterprises. And paid on time in a reasonable time frame.
Scheduling, weekends off, ease of work all depend on the individual doing the work. Pro to some is con to another.FalconsFan21, Bean Jr., wore out and 1 other person Thank this. -
How much would be a gross weekly revenue to the truck and on how many miles? I can tell you if u"ll get good o/o for that price
-
Sounds like there trying to pass this off to the O/O cuz of the "Low Pay". Why else would they ? If the pay is good, then it shouldn't be a problem to keep drivers. Be around long enough to see the "Smokin' gun".....

It comes down to bottom dollar. The price your willing to pay Vs what they Re willing to do it for. Then find the middle ground.
As @Ruthless said time off isn't always a neccesity for everyone. Low miles definitely mean either hourly or load rate. But again it has to be worth it as the o/o will be locking the truck in. You have a idea on a $ rate your thinking per day or per load or by the hour? -
No way they will do hourly, I bet you anything it's based on flat rates. And low ball at that.rollin coal, wore out, nax and 1 other person Thank this.

I thinking 1200 a day! No matter the mileage. ? Your trailer or the o/o? And is it no touch frt? Just my thought.
-
i would want to see a min of 1000 in revenue per day, if a route is only 250 miles but it takes all day to complete my min rate would still be 1000, if the route was 600-650 miles id want 1400 min
brian991219 and kimbosa Thank this.
