Hey guys not too sure if i should be posting this here or. In a different section but here goes. I am just going to be starting out to try and get my cdl in four months. I am based out of florida and looking for any good companies that are decent starting out of. I do i have a issue I've been told because i am a felon i cant apply to trucking school for another four months. Because that will be my five year gap but some companies im told. Look back as far as seven years. I have no issue traveling i wont get too personal. But i plan to leave florida behind and commit one hundred percent to working. I have no kids nor family nothing holding me back. Any information would be much appreciated.

It is not just that. Also TWIC card will be looked at very carefully, no seaports etc. Also no Canada. Many good paying loads go there and come out empty. Hazmat etc is attainable but you will find many companys not hiring you to protect themselves depending on the crime.
Im not here to be difficult or nasty, we all do things in life good or bad and it's a way forward to make the best of it. Just know that there was a time not too many years ago if someone committed a certain cime DAC would have imposed a life time ban against that person from ever driving a 18 wheeler again.
That does not stop you from getting your own authroity, buying one or 10000 trucks and becoming a company. This is a free country. BEst of luck to you. -
Don't believe all the stuff you read and only half of what you see. Some guys thrive at some of the companies you listed. That being said, out of those South Eastern is going to be the hardest as they can be very picky and choosy. I have a driver that works for me now that used to run with Crete. He loved Crete and only left to try something more regional. Just be ready to sell yourself and talk to as many recruiters as possible. Don't rule out medium to small carriers either. Reach out directly to the medium to small and skip the recruiter as lot won't have a recruiter. But That will depend on their insurance also.
The foodservice companies will hire you with a felon depending on what it is but most you will have to try and figure out a way to get 6 months to a year experience first.Chinatown Thanks this. -
I know from what i have read and talked with. Trucking schools how limited i would be but its not gonna stop me from at least trying. I have research and read and thoroughly discussed matters over the young and dumb card. Thanks much appreciated

Yeah i have been reaching out to recruiters to see where my standing is. I have a general idea of any company starting out with if possible is gonna be a rough patch for the first. Year but at least the experience will be there and i can work on it from there. I have been told to stay away from cr England.

I try not to talk crap about any company out there because I have been in management. I know there are ups and downs everywhere. That being said, I would take head of that little bit of advice for sure.
