I'm looking to purchase a new (to me) truck. I have it narrowed down to just 2 models. The 780 and another brand.

Can someone in a 780 please measure for me the following:

    1) Size of the mattress area when you convert the table into a bed. I plan to "perminently" convert it by having a custom mattress made, unless there is a standard one that happens to fit?

    2) Distance from the surface that holds the mattress to the bottom of the upper bunk. What I am thinking is MAYBE I can build a mechanism to make the lower mattress fold up against the back wall and reconfigure the table to still work... IF the deck to bottom of the upper bed area is tall enough. (Like they do on a lot of the super sized custom sleepers) Yeah, I could always use a narrower mattress to make it work but bed width is more important than potential table use. Just wondering if (due to size/space) this is even feasible?

    3) Distance from the front of the bed to the spot where the cab ends and the sleeper starts. I know it doesn't really end and start I'm just wondering what the approximate "living room" size is right there.

Do all 780's come with both the windshield curtains and the sleeper curtains? If not, is it feasible to add?

Is there some sort of cover for that skylight? In all the pictures I have seen I have never seen that window covered.

    Thanks!

The table wont fold up with a matrss because the table locks into the back wall when you lift it. Honestly sleeping on top isnt bad if you want to keep the table up for use.

    2) the mattress will be wider than the space between the top and bottom bunk. There is a lot of room in the 780 but not much space to get creative. This is the only pic i have of my old 780 but you get the idea where the table sits

And yes the 780 comes with front and sleeper curtains

The truck i just got rid of 670 volvo i put cardboard cut to size on the roof wisor or you can just plasti dip paint it so you can remove it in the future

What to ask, what was the first year the 780 was sold in the US?

Why not just go to the dealership and get the measurements?

The Model Year 2004 was the first year of the VNL780.

Because there is no dealership close to me and I really didn't think it would be a big deal to see if somebody sitting in 1 had a tape measure...

My old lease truck was a 780. It came with a skylight cover that the previous driver bought. It broke within a few months. I found out a medium pizza box (I think mine was Domino's if that matters) fits the skylight almost perfectly. Save your money and just put cardboard up top... makes very little difference in keeping light and heat out.
