I wish you the best of luck. Just a warning most companies will not hire you for this position without experience. The company I chose actually are going to use my military driving experience as experience which is great.

Linehaul is where it's at. That's what I want eventually

As a matter of fact yes. I will be working for CCC for a Coke Plant in Aburndale, FL. Do you have any details or information you care to share. How long ago did you work there and how was the job.
-
I did not wok for CCC I drove for WSE now part of MCT. I had a mechanical issue with my tractor and because CCC was shorthanded was offered a few bucks to pull some trailers. It has been so long now I doubt I could be of any help.
-
Oh ok. Well do you remember the plant. Is it big. Is there plenty of space to maneuver?
-
Yes, also make sure you get those reefer tanks full and have the units on. You won't get past the gate otherwise.
-
I guess I'll have to see what you are talking about. I don't know anything about filling any reefer units. Or turning them on. They just told me I would be moving trailers around. I guess I'll get more info on Monday at orientation

I did two years of yardhorsing. Its the best training you will ever get in trucking.
CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
That Coke plant makes a lot of Orange Juice. In fact OJ was most all I ever carried out of there. They most likely will not cover this at orientation but when you drop an empty or go to get live loaded with a reefer trailer most places will not let you in with less then 3/4 tank showing. Anything else should be covered with the dispatch instructions. They should teach you about operating a reefer. Just NEVER let one run out of diesel. In most cases the unit will suck trash from the bottom of the reefer tank and clog up the fuel filter so bad it has to be replaced. This is also why the small fuel tubes coming from APU's don't go all the way to the bottom of the fuel tank. This is why you should turn off the APU if your tanks are critically low.

Where I work yard jockey is hard work. In & out of truck 100 - 200 times per shift. Thankfully last year they got air conditioning in trucks. I would not do that job without AC even at $40/hr.CrappieJunkie Thanks this.
