Top drivers usually make 1.5-2x average. If they don't, and the average wage is less than say, $50000/year, RUN...they're cheap.Orangees, Broke Down 69, snowman_w900 and 4 others Thank this. -
My friend, you need to look at the entire picture.
You mentioned kids. How is the hometime with this company?
Having to do your 34 hour restart 500 miles from home might not matter to a single guy, but could be a deal breaker for a family guy.
What kind of equipment do they run? Is it reliable? "If your wheels ain't turnin, you ain't earnin" is more than just a catch phrase.
The others on here have given you good advice in asking questions. You really need to talk with some of their drivers. Just walk up to one and tell him you are considering hiring on. Good or bad, you won't be able to shut him up and you will learn more than any other way.

Some things never change and that's the pay.Back in 2002 that's what my pay was for flatbed 25%.
