So there I was minding my own business when I see a dump truck pulling a flat bed with a large excavator on top. There was a pickup following very close behind the trailer.

As I pass the vehicles I see why the pickup is so close behind......all of the lights on the trailer are broken out and inop. The next problem I notice was the load securement.....2 chains (G43 5/16) across the tracks and 1 across the bucket.....(total weight 36,960 for the excavator).

    And so the excuses began.

    bigguns Thanks this.

Yes. If I could have read the G43 going down the road I would be making more in other professions.

I am on here to learn more about the industry. That way I am better able to understand what drivers are up against and how I can treat them with the respect they deserve.

You need a web site in order to learn how treat someone with respect?

I would assume he was responding to a post that I took down, after I posted I was thinking about what he posted I figured he must've been a law-enforcement officer so I change my post.

Nope. I have treated people with respect all my life. As I indicated, I want to understand your profession better. The more I understand the more informed of a decision I can make. I could be like some officers and be all black and white....you broke the law here is your ticket and OOS order (with no regard for how that affects a driver or company) Or I can better understand the real world applications and say well I understand you are out of hours. How about you make it to the truck stop just down the road and get some rest....big difference. There are enough hard liners out there.

    Ahhh the justifications.

But I am only going a few miles down the road

Its too heavy to fall off

My driver behind me is blocking my lights and he has lights anyway

Registration expired since 4/2014....but I only use it a few times a year

I really do worry about safety its just we are so busy I don't get time to fix things.
