For You? No. If you have to ask, you don't have what it takes to make it work.

Just plain business ignorant ... based on what I caught there, they were clearing 5k a month. Then the 6k tax bill put them under.

The sad part, their actual tax bill was 0. They didn't need to pay.

Running hard is cool, running smart is even better:

I would look into something like Loan Mountain, study engine types, study pre emission vs modern diesel, study gear ratio's etc

They should have gotten a second opinion. It didn't sound like the accountant specialized in trucking.

If you want to play Russian Roulette I mean run hard try TRAVELOKO.

    Weekly deductions:

    Truck note $740
    Trailer rental $370
    Insurance $350
    10 CPM for maintenance
Owners are responsible for their own fuel plates and taxes.

And I almost forgot the best part, since your a owner you have to buy your own reefer fuel.

......I hope they don't have to many drop and hook accounts.

For me Prime has been very much worth it!

For you I would have to agree with @MysticHZ . If you have to ask the question, you're not ready.

Here is the list of questions I ask every driver that says they want to go lease. This list is just the start and when I talk to a driver in person it expands based on the answers I get from them.

Very first question I'll ask you is this...Why do you want to lease a truck?

I'll post the rest of the questions once you answer this one.

    Redoctober,
Were you both a company driver and lease driver at Prime? If so, can you say something about the difference (if any) betweens the loads they sent you as a company driver and the loads they offered as a lease driver. Do you think the loads as a company driver paid as well as they lease loads? I know as a company driver you probably never see how much the loads pays, but hazard a guess any. How long did you do both ?
