I have been told I need to replace my ABS modual due to some moisture damage.( Although after they cleaned the connections it seems to be working now) The Pete dealer wants $1,700.00 for a new one.
I have found used ones from around $500.00 .My question is if I replace it myself will the truck have to be placed on the computer to clear any check engine codes due to it being disconnected during installation.
It is a 2013 386 Pete with a Paccar MX 13

As a rule you don't put used electronics onto a 18 wheeler. Not with something that important.
And don't worry, if your computer throws a code or three, then something is not right. -
Generally the abs controllers are not OEM specific, so you should be able to change it without any issue as far as the trucks electronic codes are concerned.
I have seen aftermarket brand name controllers for not much more then that used price at truck part stores . -
The issue has been the odometer was adding miles when the truck is shut off,then it started adding extra miles while running down the road.
I washed the truck one day and the ABS and TCS lights came on for about two hours then went off.Three days ago hit a heavy rain they came back on then the speedometer went crazy.running at 20 to 30 MPH when stopped and not running while moving.The water activating this problem makes me think it's a connection outside which is originally what they thought it would be.I just hate to throw $2000.00 at it and it not be right. -
The ABS module won't add miles to the ODO, that's the CECU (cab controller). If it is water causing the issue at controllers on the inside of the cab you're going to wanna get the cab waterproofed because if you don't you'll be paying that 2000 again in a year. It's not uncommon for cabs to take in water. I see it about 1 in ever 50 trucks

On my issue a windshield leak ran down the ABS harness and flooded the ABS ECU. I did have an ABS warning light for open/short to both rear sensors. The speedometer was showing about 35 MPH sitting still and when I hooked up, ACom also said 35 MPH on both drive wheels. I unplugged the sensors at the wheels and it dropped to about 20 MPH. I unplugged the ABS ECU and the speedo went to zero.
My ECU was $650.00 (part # K058637), Bendix EC-60. I also replaced the under dash ABS harness that was about $200.murat Thanks this. -
Exactly why I hate to spend the $2000.00 to replace the ABS and then have them tell me It looks like it must be somthing else is wrong so sorry.

Great info!! you should be on payroll at Peterbilt.The first Pete service shop I called had never heard of a truck adding miles to the odometer, thought I was wacko,then I get the standing joke,well are you getting paid by the mile??
