Call a wrecker

When I first hired on to my current job another drive ran out of hour maybe 40 miles from company terminal. I was the new guy and they had me drive the company car to him. He got in the car and I got in his truck and drove it back for him.
Kyle G. and GoneButNotForgotten Thank this. -
And even that should be for unforeseen circumstances. That's the only time I will invoke it.

Some elogs will let you move the truck a half mile before it puts you on the drive line, if you go less than 20 miles an hour.
In a situation like this a driver could get on Google Maps on his phone and see if there is a street with parking or an empty lot nearby.
If your elogs show you as off duty, then you do five minutes of off duty driving to get to a safe parking spot, then go back to off duty nobody would say anything. -
A lot of people do that to save time on their 70 (I used to do it all the time too), but no one seems to realize it's still an easy violation. If your logs were checked in an inspection, the officer could plainly see that you went off duty here, then went on duty the next day 1/2 mile away. Still log falsification.
My opinion is, the OP was right to pull off and call the boss. Idk how he managed to run himself out of hours, but I suppose that is a separate issue. His boss also seems like kind of an idiot imo, but again that's not the issue here.
