It's mostly in reference to LTL work, the P&D drivers actually pickup and deliver the freight to the customers and take it to and from the service center. Line haul takes it from service center to service center, the P&D drivers occasionally have to do a little physical labor.

Accept no always doubles several LTL's run vans on line haul and can be way bigger than a package.

I'm just giving her a general idea of what to expect if her husband decides to apply at Old Dominion. In Indy, they hire new grads pretty often.

Oh ok, but they really don't deliver packages, he'll be in for a rude awakening when he expects packages and the give him a pallet jack.

True, some customers get a pallet load and some may just get a couple boxes. It's not actually a package service like UPS or FedEx.

I'm quitting my factory job to get back into trucking, I'm making close to $13 an hour. We have people here making close to $20 an hour, but they've had to be here for 35 years to get to that rate. My best year, with 500 hours of overtime, I still only made 26k. Screw that sideways. I'll get back into the truck if thats what all this "hard work" will get me.

Is that counting time and a half? I'm too lazy to do the math.

Yep $13 an hour, 40 hours a week 50 weeks a year (assuming no paid vacation which would make it higher) is $26000 then 500 hours at time and a half which is $19.50 is $9750. Add the two up and it comes out to $35750.

    noluck and MJ1657 Thank this.
