You would think but you'll miss something, I can pretrip a truck no problem, I can go in depth on any part of the truck and probably tell you a story about fixing that part at one time and I bet I would still screw up that part. It's a mental thing more than anything else.

Every school is different and it's the whole truck you need to learn. You could get engine or side of truck trailer. You just never know but the in cab is a must for anyone and you need to learn that and be able to do it. But just remember that you will have time to look at the truck everyday. What school are you going to?

We will agree to disagree. I dont have any numbers other than the ones I pull out of my ### but if these newbs are just memorizing a list during school or during testing than that is all they are going to check in the real world. If they even do a pre and post at all. I cant count the number of lazy drivers I've seen just fire up the truck and take off.

Not cracked bent or broken and properly mounted and secured for metallic and movable parts. No rips buldges or cuts properly mounted at both ends and no leaks for hoses or rubber parts. That's from what i've read i'm not in the game yet.

t
that is the misconception, it would appear i just fire up the truck an go but there are many times i check everything when i stop, then in the morn i check tire pressure and look for any leaks and im gone, many probaby assume i didnt do a thorough pretrip, i was lookn over my truck one evening and the driver next to me thought i was getting ready to head out and doin my pretrip, why would i wait till morn to find an issue? i try an check everything the nite before, then sometimes in the morn i check my steer tire psi and im gone, im guessn theres many drivers next to me who thought i didnt even open the hood. -
I will be most likely going to roadmasters in Tampa fl

I actually failed my first test because I didn't explain that I was checking things like, seat belts, the windshield, windshield wipers, etc. I looked at the guy with a "You're f****** kidding" face. Nope. Failed.
-
Doesn't make sense. I remember a guy that failed in Illinois because he used the word "air guage" instead of "air indicator" and "air hose" instead of "air line"; I think that's the way it went. He owns a small company and just needed the cdl in case he needed to move a trailer across town and none of his drivers were there at the time.

Every since then I get psyched out by the pre-trip. I've been studying this thing that Roadmaster gave me for the last 2 weeks and I don't go to class for another month.

Choose a good company and make some money!
Roadmaster is owned by Werner, so you'll probably hear and see that name often while in school.
