I got my fill of running OTR around the Midwest, South, Southeast. I really enjoyed running out West. I live very, very far from Montana, much closer to Missouri, I'd rather drive the Jim Palmer states/routes than the Wil-Trans states/routes. That's why they make 51 flavors of ice cream. But everything about Wil-Trans/Jim Palmer I can find out is good for me, except the insurance. It's expensive with a high deductible. I blame that on the Marxists in D.C. not a particular trucking company. The good point is all of your "premiums" are cash that go into an account you own, in your name. If you leave the company that cash goes with you.

I have been looking into the(free) CDL classes from 4 companies and so far JPT at least in my eyes is the way to go.
andI hoping in April I can start there. crossing my fingers.
No matter where you go most training companies are going to want a "year" from you. and most companies want a year +experience OTR. I am game for a change in careers -
So what happened? I'm considering doing a straight lease with Jim Palmer.
-
Is that the one charging $900/wk for a Peterbilt?
-
Yea... but the way I see it, I could be a company driver and make the same more or less and not have the flexibility of being a lease operator or I can just play the lease game and keep myself in a new truck every 3 years. I'm not trying to start a company or build a fleet. I just want a nice truck and some say in where I go. In the end, there's not much difference in pay. It's just in one position you see all the trucks running cost, and in one you don't.
I'm getting a 2018 Freightliner. -
Hey I was wondering if you were still at Jim Palmer and if so how is it going! I'm looking into them as well!
