@Steelersjunkie Sounds like the load of a thousand cuts. For now push it to the back of your mind and get back at it tomorrow, for now focus on just enjoying the short the time with your wife.
Shock Therapy, Steelersjunkie and Vic Firth Thank this. -
Wassup y'all. Tonight I'm back in West Henrietta, NY. I haven't posted in a minute, so here's my last couple days. After leaving home, I drove as far as my hours for the day would allow. That landed me just inside the Wisconsin border. The following day, I had to stop in at Black River to fuel up and get my pallet restacked. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it originally looked. I doubt very seriously that there was any product damage. Just some dinged-up packaging. The nice thing is that I got some corroboration from the gentleman who helped me reload the pallet. Whoever loaded that stuff did a horrible job. The pallets were stacked too high, and definitely not wrapped well. I've never had an issue with any load I've hauled so far, as far as shifting. And never had any damaged freight. The roads weren't bad, I didn't have any hard brakes or hard turns. The guy who helped me said he'd back me up on the poor loading, so hopefully he actually will if asked. I finished that load, and picked up another at the same location. Gotta love that! That load went to Madison. Not a long trip, but it was a very prompt response from dispatch and I really appreciate it when that happens. I didn't have the hours to deliver that day, so I delivered first thing yesterday. When I was unloaded, Opie deadheaded me to the Miller brewery in Milwaukee to drop my empty, then bobtailed to Richfield. I met a driver there, and grabbed his load heading to Rochester, NY. There is a reload included on this run. So, as soon as I'm empty in the morning, my trailer is getting packed with beer bound for South Carolina. Last night, I had to grit my teeth and punch through Chicago rush hour traffic. Omg, what a mess. So many cars, so many accidents. There were 5 or 6 that I counted. I made it to Lake Station, IN before I ran out of time. That was necessary in order for me to make it here tonight. It cost me at least 90 minutes of wasted time on my 70 to get through that mess, there was a lot of sitting involved. But it was worth it, as I am now 15 minutes from my final. That'll give me a ton of run time tomorrow. Which I'll need, because my reload is due in SC the next day, and almost 700 miles away. So here I sit, extremely thankful that traffic went my way today. And grateful as always for the killer load and miles. The last few days have beaten me up a little, but that's truckin'. I'll take it, all day long. Alrighty, that's all I got for today. Time to slam some food and hit the sack. Be safe out there in Truckerland. Peace y'all.
