We did the same with Hoover first chance we got a long time ago. that was before the bypass bridge got built. Hoover was a good day. Those Jakes were the key northbound prior to the dam, those rocks were a problem in a couple spots but nothing we could not handle.

70 came later in my time. Esenhower tunnel was several lessons that night. One of which is the special joints built into the walls due to a quake fault below the structure in that mountain. Hopefully it will keep it open during a quake. 70 is a good road when not in winter. But bring winter into the problem it becomes literally a pain. Better just to run either 40 or 80. Bypass the dam thing.

Yellowstone was not possible for a variety of good reasons. I understand they are undergoing a swarm of hundreds this week; will keep a eye on it. I have family visiting that place despite my advice about what it really is.

There is a couple minor items still on the list not too many left thankfully.

Exactly. Day cabs don't draw much attention, either, no matter what kind of trailer you're pulling. If you've seen one mile of interstate, you've seen 'em all. I can usually knock a few miles off a trip with minimal extra time added just sticking to the scenic routes. I love seeing the different flavors of towns as I travel, and all that gets missed out there on the big road.

I had a argument with my gps today, added about 16 miles as result, and found myself on a few of those 2 laners, the gps won when it corrected my error.

Problem I have with my GPS is that it gets it into its head that it wants me on a certain road, and it doesn't care HOW far out-of-route it's adding to get back onto that particular route it's going to try to send me that way...even though the route I'm on is 50 miles shorter and 20 minutes quicker. Eventually it gets with the program, though...usually when it runs out of ways to try to get me back to its original route.

I occasionally haunt railroad forums to after app gain more information on real life steam events.

People have occasionally posted pictures of Amtrack running flat out at 150 but the Phone GPS refuses to accurate trace the rail route, it will stick to, cling on and then warp onto the next nearest culdesac or cros street to where they are fixing to be aint no more at 150 plus.

Im half tempted to poke fun at Uncle aSam. 150 ha, we are just getting the top end opened up so we can really get up and run. No more of this crawling about while Europe and china takes off.

Ive cursed God in construction my first few days on the job. I could not see nothing, then I could not sleep and when that got settled things started to improve with a somewhat regular working tour.

But my Lord hae mercy, those roads are so bad. ALL water and stones where there isnt any. There is not a mack built that can take this abuse.

The Lord came to me one day and said do not fret, there will be roads and trucks to run on those roads someday, I require them.

Now it's been a while and I suppose what with bridges falling down around here and not in londontown, Im pretty sure that there is a lot of work still yet to do.
