The main thing is that I get dispatched like a company driver all the time, and they always give me low paying and heavy loads. I just routed myself last week and will net about $1700, while the week before that I made $510 while being dispatched. I don't ever turn loads down and try to just preplan the higher-paying ones before they route me.
In all honesty, I made more as a trainee at CRST (starting at $.25 a mile and getting the gradual pay raise to $.33) while getting at least a day off per week than I have here (so far). I don't even take hometime (plus had problems getting routed when I tried earlier in the year. I have to go out-of-route and take a few hours to check the mail and say hi to my mom.). It would take weeks to get out of the hole from missing work if I did, anyway.
I just see the potential for more profit if I can get them to let me route myself. They recently changed the maximum deadhead percentage to 10% or less. When I first started last year, I was doing 20% deadheads but made $1.50+ per mile and actually made $1000+ checks. I am under the impression that the $.94 including fuel surcharge that a lot of these loads pay (up to about $1.25 including fsc) is just them skimming the hell out of the pay and not just taking the 25% they're supposed to get (I'm on full-maintenance so it's 75% of gross). If not, then they'd prefer to plan me out 3000 miles at a dollar than 2500 at $1.50+ and wear out their trailers faster for no reason.Last edited: Jun 20, 2017

Why in the world do you guys do this lease purchase crap it's a rip off the company is the one who makes a profit. 60k a year for being so called " your own boss " that is just sad, you guys need to realise something, you want to start a trucking company then start one by getting your own authority, if you cant afford it or don't have the knowledge then educate yourself or remain a company driver.
Whatever you do don't do lease purchase, it's like if you're renting an apartment, who's is making a profit ? The landlord of course you're just paying his mortgage -
So are you planning on going to apartment buildings and telling people to GTFO ... if they can't afford to buy a house, they can't have roof over their head.
drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
Hmmm someone hasn't done there homework, someone wants to do Fing business in America and chosen not to do there homework,,,oh they forced me to take that truck, come on driver...In the trucking business there playing hardball, and your still trying to play softball....So many drivers need to stay away from leasing or owning there own equipment,,,Brokers, leasing companies, any company selling trucks will eat you up and spit you out...You have no business being a lease driver or owner opt...Come on find a good company where you can drive there truck..I have leased a truck through quality leasing and leased on with celadon...it's okay ,I'm doing okay...I can't be the only one...It's all about hard work and Attitude, but also starts with that truck you pick,,,have it checked out ,by someone other then quality leasing...Step up,walk up to the mound and start playing some hardball...This is America where we play hardball ...come on..smh I'm not trying to be disrespectful,I'm just trying to help...Good luck peace
