The logistics provider is currently on the kick of trying to get us to get dealers to extend hours to improve dwell times. Uhhhh.... how about enforcing the clauses that say they're supposed to receive any time the dealership is open?
Of course, this is the same brain trust that thinks that having STI available at a dealer means they'll get 5 drops a week instead of 2. SMDH

Deja Vu all over again. Early 90's, Mother Ford forced it's carrier base to deliver 24/7. But would not assist in getting the dealers to receive after hours. It was fun times.

I'm predicting the days of huge long term contracts are over. This is going to turn into a game of spot buys. The big fleets are struggling and the little guys are starving. It's about to get real interesting
Terry270 and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
Cassens, H & A and others are doing well. Unless you are a real player, you can't keep up with the traffic assigned.

The world is bigger than the west coast. Guys like Fine Line and LNR from out east are making a pretty profit chasing spot buys even out of Washington state and going into Canada. Not to toot my own horn but word came down today that Ford has decided to split 2 western Canada ramps in 3 ways. Local, Short haul ,and long haul. And they're accepting quotes from everyone not just the big players. Honestly this could be the shake up this industry needs. Spot buys always pay better than contract freight.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

Good. Be part of the bid process, I hope it works out for you. As long as anyone goes in knowing you have to move the #### too

Why, why do one person (Bear with me here, think about this for a moment. Reason this through a bit with me please...)
think LOTS of loads implying a shipload with 15000 container boxes that now need 15000 drivers to be delivering the stuff? What are YOU going to do with 15000 boxes by yourself? You don't, you pick up the phone and call JB or any carrier large enough to take on 15000 boxes.
That ship will be stripped really fast, stacked faster and it will be on it's way quicker than you can arrange the paperwork and so forth. -

That's the thinking of pencil pushers that got this industry into the mess it's in.
Name one other business that opens it doors just to say they're open? We are all out here for profit. Not just to tell people we re car haulers !!!! -
I have zero interest in arguing with you.
Go haul cars and revolutionize the business.
