I might sign on with them, lower than avg pay though, but If I get involved in the L.P. deal later down the road,I think the 15 cents a mile warranty is good as gold, as long as they continue to honor it.

Milk that warranty every chance you get. Tweek something every time you are in the yard. Even if nothing is needed, have the brakes checked. Make them earn that 15 cpm

Yeah I'm famous. They put my pic on FB page, even though I tried to avoid it for a month.

Am I stupid for wanting to use my paid off truck as a trade for something newer only to have a payment for 3-5 yrs again?

Here is my only thoughts about that.

Your current truck has no emissions stuff on it, if I remember correctly. If you trade up to a truck that has the emissions crap on it, you will spend time in the shop, and it will be costly. Manufacturers are slowly getting the EGR/DPF/SCR/DEF and all of the other emissions alphabets figured out, but if you get one that is older with that stuff on it, expect to spend downtime and lots of $$$ (the 15cpm maintenance plan would be nice to have on trucks like that).

Call me foolish, but I think I'd get a rebuilt series 60 Coronado glider. I don't want to deal with regen or DEF poop.

I think you are on the right track with this line of thought. Updated/upgraded body and interior with no emissions stuff to worry about. It would probably be worth making another 3-5 years worth of payments.

I think one of the unexpected costs I didn't factor is temporary insurance from a dealer to the carrier shop for inspections and elog installation . Who'd be best for that if I pull the trigger on this idea of mine?
