i have a problem with e-logs, they in no way will make me safer, if anything i think it will do the opposite. i am still on paper but iv been paying really close attention to my logs and basically running at if i was on e-logs already to get a feel for how it will affect me. if anything it makes me feel like i have to drive faster, be in a bigger hurry not stop when i feel like stopping. always feel like your racing the clock. where as otherwise i feel more relaxed go with the flow if i gotta change something a little no skin off my back.

so now this is another situation i can really see happening a lot on e-logs, your closing in on your destination there going to be closed when you get there so your going to unload first thing in the morning, you know other trucks are heading there a well. your 3 hours out doing the math in your head your not going to make it there by 15 mins, paper no big deal you get there when you get there, now e-logs crap im not going to make it i got to put the hammer down because then if i don't make it there im going to loose an hour on my 14 for the follow day. if you make it there, and a couple trucks are ahead of you you don't have to start your clock till its your turn to unload. log your pre trip and your unload time at the same time and take off with a fresh 10-14

ok but your on e-logs now you drove like a maniac for 3 hours cause you knew you would be cutting it close, well you still didn't make it you had to stop 30 mins away cause you were going to run out of hours 15 mins away with no closer place to stop, now you log 15 min pre trip, 30 min drive now you get there and have to wait an hour and a half for your turn to unload, your now taking off 2hours 15 mins into your day.

now is driving like a maniac for 3 hours so you can try to make it there 15 mins sooner really so much safer than driving 15 mins past the majical number that makes you unfit to be on the roadway.

let alone who's biusness is it but mine anyway. there might be a day i don't feel good im going to shut it down when i still have hours left theres other days i hit the end of my clock but im feeling good im comfortable i could easily drive another 3 hours without being fatigued. hours of service is meant to keep company's from pushing there drivers too hard, "you gotta get there or its your ###" i think 1 man shows should be exempt from all hours of service requirement personally but i also realize that some people are too stupid for there own good and would #### that up too.

LOL, they should govern all trucks to 64mph to solve this problem.

Ever so many years there is a reversal of things. In the 1980 everyone fought for deregulation. One good point of being regulated was shippers and carriers were obligated to pay in 7 days. If we are gonna allow them to regulate more, we need to collect are fairshare. As I have posted before, I am more than willing to give the old outhouse a good stir for the sake of everyone. But there is no unity. No one has even commented about Ice Cube calling Bill Maher a "Redneck Trucker". In response to Bill saying the n-word. I am country, enjoy the slower personal life. However I am a Proffessional Owner Operator and business owner, that will hustle because nobody owes me anything. Maybe that makes me a "redneck trucker". But by saying that it is offensive to the brothers and sisters that are trucking proffessionals of all ages, races, religon. This is a group of 3 million drivers doing what needs done for the rest of the world to live with there head in the sand and there largest worry is "star bucks or Java house" in there dailey comute.

LOL, yeah that will solve everything, why didn't i think of that. people wouldn't do 64 threw a 35 zone or blow relights or try to pass a 63mph truck on a 2 lane over a blind hill.

OMG 64mph that fixes everything. Why have I not thought of making every single individual conform to one rule of law. Thank Ezrider-48501 of the british red coats.

the whole problem with hos is there is no one size fits all and eld is not the answer to safer roads, its just one more hoop to jump threw one more fee to pay that accomplishes nothing. if anything i see it causing more problems.

i don't know what the answer is, i would say the answer would be to get rid of hos all together but impose really stiff penalty's (dui equivalent) for fatigued driving, but how do you measure a drivers level of fatigue.

I am not sure why anyone is even discussing ELD's in terms of safety. It has never been about safety. It has been about compliance. There is not one thing different about an ELD than what would be done on paper if one was following the regulations. But since so many like to play games with paper, it brought this about to keep them a little more honest.

    Gee, thanks guys.

Notice that the OP was a one post wonder?? Gee why do you think?? Cant make a living following the HOS rules that are the same whether recorded in ink or computer code. Well good ridens. Just one less truck to compete against.

Im not sure what is going on with the forum post boxes. You can clear the table type one time and if you stopped to consider the closing statement, it adds something to it quietly causing everything to be off kilter and off format.

Anyway, too much time is lost in shippers and recievers during live loading and unloaidng. There is no point anymore doing that type of activity when we all know that on duty hours kill earnings driving potential for the week. We don't give a dam about those working on duty hours but we definately give a #### about driving hours. Toss the Line three and line four all together. Make it a time clock. If you are driving and or just loading, guess what... you are literally on the clock now buddy. How you use it is up to you.But as long you still get paid miles you will never work in live load or unloading faciliteis, you will carefully work in places that are swap relays, drop hook etc.

There is no more honestly here or honestly there.

Drivers who say or said they will not make it was clubbed like baby seals into compliance, fear for job by dispatcher who are more than happy to fire same for insurrection, service failure etc. Shipper and reciever make each other promises of delivery and pickups involving particular units in real time, inside which units those drivers were never consulted. They were told here is appt. Be there. No exceptions or excuses.

Let's clear the dispatch and traffic managers out first before you wish to clear the thousand ox stables of king midas with a mighty river in homerian days of myth.
