Wife with full benefits. I have to pay out of pocket for one member of my family because she isn't a government recognized relation. Her insurance costs me $10 more per month than my wife pays for the other 5 members combined.

Whew you're not getting any answers out of these guys. Schneider on IC side has some plans that are available through True North. It's not company health insurance, just a marketplace, but you generally will get plans than have lower deductibles than other marketplaces do. Alternative is going to Obamacare and seeing what you'll get, but with all the crazy that's happening, good luck with that.
TBH if insurance is actually a thing that you use ever and you're concerned with potentially dying because of not having it, don't go IC right now. Keep that company insurance.gentleroger and TennMan Thank this. -
I checked into the True North plan. It is basically supplemental insurance. It's not ACA compliant but I guess that's a mute point these days. On the other hand you can get insurance through your states marketplace but I can tell you it's basically worthless if it's anything like my state. I was paying 875 a month with a 6000 yearly deductible for a family of three and could hardly find anyone to take the crap. Even if they did I had to pay out of pocket until I reached 6000. Even if the state gives you subsidies that make it affordable it's still worthless. Just a card they send you that makes you feel better but nobody wants. As others have said if you have a spouse with insurance jump on that. In my opinion the best option is to have a inexpensive catastrophic(which are no longer available)plan that covers things like heart attacks and cancer and just pay out of pocket for routine things. Just my experience. I'm trying to help @Friday but it's a mess lol.
Friday and gentleroger Thank this. -

lol I was a bit more specific
To be fair... this can be easily answered with a phone call to ic recruiters. That's how I found out. Fancy how that works.
@sealevel has it right though. It's all junk. My options aren't as bad from the marketplace.. $600/mo for a family with a $1500 deductible and preventative free and copay starts immediately, but my family is two and we're both young and healthy. If nothing catastrophic happens it would be WAY cheaper for both of us to just pay out of pocket for everything. But that's the "if"sealevel Thanks this.
