Alright so I recently got out of a truck for about 3 months because me and my wife split and I got full custody of my children . I never seen myself returning to driving so I screwed up a little smoked some pot . I know many will judge "stay out of a truck you stoner". Thing is I'm not one of those guys. I just realize despite the not wanting to leave my children with my mom it's the only field I'm skilled enough and experienced enough in to support those children . So I figured while they are young I'll get back at it and hit it as hard as I can. Long story short I have 4.5 years experience , can pass a urine test no problem and am no longer smoking. Haven't in 30 days but I notice a lot of companies going to hair follicle test . I need recommendations on otr companies that do standard UA only . I'd like to run full 48 and a rider policy would be nice . Other than that I'm easy to please. I'm out of Columbus Georgia 31909 zip , all recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here's some that do only urine tests:
    Freymiller-driver friendly & long runs. rider/pet
    Magnum Ltd. - rider/pet
    J&R Schugel - rider program
    Navajo Express - rider/pet
    Titan Transfer - rider/pet
    Paschall Truck Lines - rider/pet
    USA Truck - rider/pet
    Britton Transport - rider/pet
Lessors Inc. - haven't heard anything about this company in a few months, but last info was just urine test.
SouthernAg Carriers - Albany,GA - probably just urine, but you'll have to figure out some way to verify that.

Im going to assume that the children are young. Child Care costs run you more than what you make in a week. Your relatives will be raising the children for you. In short, you will not be driving OTR while trying to keep custody of children.

having chemicals or illegal drugs inside a home around tender young growing bodies and minds etc is a absolute abuse, a assault a form of hurting them before they have had a chance to grow into adulthood and shake off the fumes etc. You run the risk of stunting them, hurting them, making them think it's ok to puruse addiction as a path to life... if daddy smokes, sure I can too. That's something powerful.

But you don't want me or anyone piling on you saying this and that dadadada and so on. We do the same thing to a 5 year old for punishment purposes.

You know you are hot in terms of drug tests. You know you will manage to squeak a clean result with urine and or blood but your hair stores the chemicals and will fiail you in 90 days if not more than the day you last smoke. Which is why everyone is leaning towards hair follicule testing. It's the only way to be sure.

Besides. Im fixing to hand you a 160,000 dollar tractor crammed full of information related to my business in form fo permits, stickers and so on fuel cards, comdata banking papers and so on etc with shipper and reciever account books directions to same and more information you can shake a stick at. At the same time there is a 60,000 dollar trailer being assigned to you with loadings that are potentially one million dollars or more in value. (Mine happened to be with McKesson in Memphis which did haul Narcotics, the very substance that I demonstrated smoking addiction behavior int he past... what do YOU think is going ot happen to you When I find out that you are also a addict potentially hauling narcotics from McKesson? I would be very stupid to hire you on for that work.

It is not acceptable to have a drug history. Uncle Sam says it's illegal. Because trucking is federally regulated, it's still illegal no matter how much you scream about states rights and seperation of same until you are blue in the face. You will realize that for drugs to be legal and defensible agvainst federal hunting and prosecution, the state will have to physically leave the union of these United States and form a country onto themselves strictly. Only then will their laws regarding drug use will be legal and defended from prosecution by federal forces of the United States. You will have to issue your own money, postal services, air traffic, defenses military, trucking, rules for everything. And so on etc etc etc.

    Or....

Uncle sam can say ok, fine here is a act in congress stating that Pot is legal along with other scheudled drugs.

What will happen that night in trucking will be very bad. There was a train wreck in Amtrack on their corridor when a engineer transferring three simple freight engines bobtail to a power yard blew through three very specific stop and stay signals while smoking pot and having a good time back around 1986ish I think it was. A passenger train slammed into the engine set that now blocked the mainline thanks to the pot smoking engineer who broke all the rules and then some.

I refuse to have pot smoking truckers or any illegal drug using trucker. It's that simple.

Just you showing up saying you use illegal drugs and you want to engage in a very serious occupation doing the same while delibeartely seeking out work arounds to bypass enforcement against you for using the stuff in the past and with children in your custody no less.... People are liable to start trying to find you so they can report you to CPS. Then we have a problem.

Im not your enemy. I rant and rail and blow up like a fish every time someone says on one hand that the living situation allows 5 filthy diapers to be changed in the sleeper at 70 mph while you have smoking pot pipe on the other hand. Yea right.

Thank you for your kind words. I ain't some kind of junkie obviously or I wouldn't have been granted custody to begin with in a Bible belt southern state as a single man vs the mother of the children. Nor am I some drug doing demon trying to turn my children into miniature pot heads. I slipped up and hit a joint 1 time in 8 years. Was it stupid, yes I acknowledge that. Does it make me the devil? I think not.

@x1Heavy is really a pretty nice guy on this forum, but there's a reason his CB handle is "Bongwater."

Uh...in the interest of full disclosure, aren't you on prescription opiates? I'm merely suggesting that perhaps you went a bit too soapbox on the OP.

I agree with your position, generally, on weed use in the transportation industry. I too am tired of the daily posts of "I accidentally ate a whole pan of hash brownies while smoking what I thought was a cigar but turned out to be a blunt; will I pass my drug test at CRE tomorrow?"
But this man is a driver with experience and needs to make some coin pronto. Maybe he thought his trucking days were over and reverted to civilian behavior when his buddy passed the bud. When I know for sure I'm done in the truck forever, I'm spending a week in Colorado in a Super 8 with a bag, a pack of EZ 1 1/4s, a bag of Chips Ahoy and an ashtray. But this is the business I chose and for the forseeable future I must steer clear of prohibited substances.

I respect you and your experience. You post some good info. I just think you went off your meds on this one, and I wanted to tell you.

I respect and defend your right to speak your mind.

I am on prescription opiates and no longer have my CDL having turned it in from Grandfather tier two status no medical card needed to no cdl at all because the medicines I am on in addition to the opiates (Blood pressure reducer (Which is of itself a problem with DOT BP rules) among other things is a total problem. I am not medically qualified to drive a 18 wheeler. I have said that before over and over towards People who are unfortunately finding that the body has failed them on the road and now must stop trucking pernamently due to medicines being prescribed to them. All of my drugs are scheduled two or three meaning if I want to drive drug free without any possibility of DUI charges etc and problems I have to wait a minimum of 12 hours for it to be out of blood, 3 days for it to be out of urine and 90 days for it to be out of hair.

I also test out the eyes the same way my doctor and police tests my eyes. So as long they react smoothly and no pupil problems I'll go ahead run the wheel. Otherwise I have a driver with me.

My opinions or knowledge is flawed generally due to many years has passed and laws etc have changed and in some cases have gotten really bad making for me being happy I got the hell off the road when I did.

I don't mind talking about my situation in some detail if it helps the knowledge both ways. It's just one of those things that works out well all around.
