    Hello fellow truckers,

My father and I bought a 1996 International Eagle with Cat engine as a project, but the truck did not have batteries installed - battery box has all connector wires for battery-to-battery connections and three main cables going to under the truck.

So first, I wanted to ask if someone could help with proper battery wire pattern for these trucks. Second, the three main cables coming to the battery box - are they two Positives and one Ground?

    Thanks in advance!

Positive to positive, negative to negative. Two main positive's each on to a different batt.

Trace the cables back to there origin. Most likely you have two going to starter and one ground.

So, just basic parallel connection? I was second guessing, because there were a bunch of short cables in the box and I thought that maybe you had to do some special series/parallel pattern here.

I think all three cable go back to the starter: two positives and one negative.

Yeah, just a standard parallel 12 volt set up. Since you know what parallel is( a lot of folks don't).

You may have a short one, should be black with a white wire attached. It's a negative cable.

Ok, so as I was looking for info, my Dad decided to just jump in it and sure enough thought there were two negatives and one positive! lol
so, after some short sparking, he connected the batteries in parallel (two positives and one negative). However, the starter wouldn't spin. As you turn the ignition key to start the engine, there is a distinct sound click from the starter (I'd guess the solenoid), but the starter wouldn't turn the engine over. We connected the plus and minus connectors on the starter with a screw driver and starter motor spins.

So thats all she wrote so far... eh eh I hope he didn't burn something :)

Solenoid on the starter is bad. If you can jump with a screw driver.
