When I got hired on with a flat deck company I told the owner I wasn't tarping and he was cool with that but the dispatcher hated it. First thing I did was toss the tarps off the trailer. Wasn't worth the $18 they paid for tarping to do it in the winter time.

You'll get real good at getting those tarps folded like a nice clean linen from the hotel laundry service soon enough. It makes it easier to move and to get it centeted on the trailer the first time.
I always liked tarping. I always used to grin when my tarps wouldn't flap at all while I was going by someone's tarped load that looked like hell. It also looking real cool when you're long and low and look professional.
Square loads are the easiest to learn with. Once you have that down pat, the irregularily shaped loads aren't much more difficult.
