I know the agent manager down here in the SA, TX division of Landstar, the only thing that gets me is that I can't really find anyone that has gone in to speak with. I would rather not ask her to give me some numbers, I want to run into a random, because even though I know her personally I still believe that she might just give me the numbers to the highest paid people, which to me isn't right, because that's loading the answers to appear better than they really are. I suppose when I get off work I'll stroll on over to the TA and and Flying J across the street from work and bug them there. -_- Unless you have personal experience with them and care to inform me of their operations...

Ok here's my experience. I work at Admiral Merchants been here about 15 years. I do say 100-140K per year. I'm old so I do not work that hard. You take L/S, Admiral,Great Wide, Universal put them in a bag shake it up, pull out a name. There is not going to be a huge difference. In fact most agents represent several carriers. The norm getting out of Texas is in my book cheap. You load into the Midwest and put a better load on. Maybe stay the Midwest for a week or two running short miles for good money. When you want to go home put a load on and go. When it's slow everybody for the most part are slow. There are guys who are super hooked up doing say 200-300K. They earn that money. Big loads, big tarps, lots of aggravation. If you go with one of the brand name people. Work reasonably hard you will be fine. There will always be someone doing better than you. Don't worry about that. Be honest, reliable, take care of your equipment. Things will come together.

HAHA, I'm not looking to make the most, just get off my ### and do something with myself until I can get together the money to either A) get my own numbers, B) purchase more trucks or C) all of the above :).

Very exciting to someone recently ask exactly what I was about to. I'm 27, got my CDL few years ago with a Mega carrier and have worked my up to a local home daily job with salary of $1300 weekly.

My friend and I are about to run teams for .60 a mile to save up and get our own trucks. The plan is to each save up 15K, enough for a down payment on a 2014 and 5k for emergency repair if we're unlucky in the first few weeks.

The plan is to go with a company like LS for the first year or 2 before (if ever) going out on our own. We'll be solo not teaming after we have enough saved up.

I'm rooting for you man and I'll be following and bugging you from time to time. Please keep thread up to date

A lot of companies out there that pays 90% . But the question they book for you cheap load or good rates load ?
For example if company find cheap load for you still not enough money you will make even if they pay you %90 in the other side if the company find load for you with good rate . That's will be sounds good . You need to ask good before you join with any company about what the average for load rate with you guys ask about the ..
( Minimum or maximum rate ) better if one day you join with company and company keep hock you up with stupid cheap load . that's very important question you need to know about it

The people I mentioned let you pick your freight and rates are quoted up front. You can work off the company load board or through their agent system. A good deal of the time agents are following you on the inbound report and call you to offer you work. No forced board.

My concern is why would I go to LS when they are only giving 65% of revenue when I'm seeing family carriers and small outfits giving anywhere from 75-90%? The goal is to put a hefty down payment on a truck with around 300-400k miles and keep my payments low. Just not understanding why anyone would be ok with giving away almost 40% of pay when they're doing 97% of the work.

The question is what is that load paying where you get 90% so 90% of What? Guys at LS are making 3k to 4k a week take home, at least down here. Doing around 4 to 5 loads a week, so it can't be that bad. They have really strong freight I know that much. That being said if you can find a company that pays you better that has good paying loads, take it. It's whatever works for you.

Nice, is that 3-4K constant, or is it in between $850-$1400 weeks.

Also is that take home pay meaning after just fuel, or is it after: fuel, $.12c a mile in maintance, truck payment?

One thing I've learned about people, is that they want others to think they're successful. I've talked to company drivers at mega carriers that will tell me how they make 6 figures when I know #### well they're on E logs and getting paid .40 a mile MAX lol.
