The bureaucracy here in Utah is at least as bad, if not worse than California ever was! I do believe that some of your more populated areas aren't quite as bad as they used to be, but that isn't saying much.

Be nice if we had teh same luxuries as regular licenses have. Like renewal and ordering mvr online.

I'm from California as well. Last time I renewed my CDL, they made me take the written test again.
Don't worry, it's mostly general knowledge, unless you have all the endorsements.

I have been renewing my CDL by mail in California for decades, the only time I have taken any tests is if I am adding a classification.
