Did Moore get the GM rail freight in Lordstown? Last I knew they couldn't keep up with the Fords.

Yep. Non-power mirror on any unit backed on #1 (or any top spot if'n it's very windy,) get folded forward. You only have to buy one to learn this one!

I am sure an old pro like you has a couple of wedges in your rig to keep that from happening? Ft. Wayne taught me that trick when backing a pickup behind the cab. For some reason those mirrors would blow open. I have only had one pickup lately do it and it was backed on the top front deck of the trailer. Now I just slide that deck away from anything it could come in contact with.

    Thanks for your help
Sorry to say I forgot to get a picture of the load.
At the advice of one of our drivers he told me that putting one up on the top of the truck was totally unnecessary. Maybe if I had six.

I drove one on the swing deck, drove one on the front of the trailer, backed one on the rear of the trailer. Back one in the belly and drove the last one on the tail.
I was able to use about a fist and a half clearance and still get 13-6.

Although I wasn't able to move the back deck up very far without the front wanting to collide with part of the trailer. I'm a little skeptical of putting a big unit on that last deck like that because sometimes that back deck has been known to bounce up and thereby damaging the roof of the vehicle. This happened to me one time when I backed in a Tacoma.

And it was 116 inch wheelbase on all of them.
I'm told that those are the short version.

    Gas Caps
GM SUV units gas cap cover can flip open when backed on the headramp, it doesn't happen often but it will put a dent in the surrounding metal if it comes open, you just need to tape it shut.

Another bugaboo is car antennas on older vehicles. You can remove the antenna or bend it and close the car door on it, not the best choice because it bends the antenna as well as the panel it's attached to. What happens is you put your ht stick on the top of the car roof, good to go, you forget about the antenna that is a foot or two higher, until it hits a bridge and whipsaws into the roof, major damage for such a simple thing that can be avoided.

Another thought. You're never the smartest guy in the room, not the best carhauler.
If I go into an unfamiliar terminal to load, say pick up trucks out of Ft Wayne, I go and find the smartest person in the room for that terminal. It saves so much time. When I think I should back a unit on and he points out why it works or won't.
I've spent unbelievable hours trying to make a load fit that just won't happen. Trial and error.
You're never an expert, new equipment comes about and changes everything. I have new drivers that have pointed out the most obvious things, that me as a seasoned driver, I didn't even think of but they work
