Ya there is... electronic fencing set with motion detectors that notify a station that then can switch to a camera to check and see if it is people or animals... Anther are ground sensors that can detect tunneling. There are ways to secure land borders.. Water is a little harder... other methods like coastal drones can be used.. There are ways....

America already spends over 40 billion a year on drug enforcement..

 

That doesn't work either. It would require so much manpower to monitor all the border and to track down and capture illegal crossings, it makes it unpractical.
Not to mention, all that stuff requires maintenance, and is very expensive to install.
The best they can do is use it as a manpower multiplier by identifying areas to send the manpower. Cameras and fences can't arrest illegals coming in. You still need the men and women on the ground.

 

Oh I guess the 40 billion that we spend currently on manpower is a better way to spend the money.... simply by going on hearsay is a better then actually installing items to stop drugs from entering... ya that makes sense...

$40 billion would go a long way for maintenance and manpower.. Not to mention they actually would not have to intercept simply send in small drones currently used by military and other nations (no not predator, a much smaller drone, equipped with items such as thermal imaging ext..) that can simply observe till they stop to unload or load.. There are ways despite what you believe to secure our borders...

 

Remember years ago when the police would make a big bust on drugs they would sometimes show it being taken to a furnace and being destroyed. Funny how you never hear about them destroying any of it any more.

 

That would be because a large portion of all the illegal drugs is getting put back on the street by the police themselves. And as for the federal gov. they are making too much money off the drugs to really put up a fight that they could not win but could do much more than they are currently doing.

 

When we are able to stop dirt poor Mexicans from getting across the border, then you might be able to think about keeping out well equipped terrorists out of the country.

What are they going to do after they watch the people stop and unload? You have to have people on the ground.

 

We can stop the Mexicans from getting across... Government obviously does not want to stop it...

While tracking them with drones you can be organizing local police to intercept.. Does not always need to be a special task force..

 

Can't compete with that logic.....

 

The "man" probably wasn`t getting their cut or a big enough cut.If they were seriously doing their jobs there would be ALOT more bigger busts more often.It`s all about the "benjamins."
