I heard 109 in Ontario talking on a 12 watt BC980. He was able to talk over 09 (the Australian guy running big power in Toronto).

109 is running a homebrew 7 element Yagi that's 42 feet up though.

    wolverine11 Thanks this.

Im guessing the receive is excellent on par with the President Grant ll, based on the review on cbradiomagazine( too bad he isnt posting new articles on his website).

No , thats my roger beep, I feel left out since my 980 doesnt have one. Used to love and pissoff certain people when I ran my 99v2 in cascadia, the beep was twice as loud as the audio.

I can tell you that the receive is better than my N4. With both radios running, I could hear much more on the McKinley.

It wasn't the antennas either. I swapped them out and the McKinley still ruled in receive.

    wolverine11 Thanks this.

Good deal thats awesome I need to get me one, the receive is really good on the 980 but Im like you its an addiction, like to try new and different radios, get bored with same radio. I hear some drivers who have been using the same cobra 25 ltd for 20+ years, they have saved alot of money, but not me, I would hate to venture a guess how many radios I have owned in 20 years of driving.

I used to use my Petro points for purchasing replacement antenna whips.
there was a TA truck stop somewhere in Missouri that I used to stop at every couple weeks to cash in my points to buy the WILSON SW2000 31" REPLACEMENT WHIP for my personal stash. They only charged me 10 bucks each and it was the cheapest price I could get them for.

There are plenty of Petro/TA to choose from around Missouri on 70 , 44, and 55.
