From what I've seen here in my area.. WM PF grocery DC the drivers there typically stay on routes out of that DC. They do a lot of refer loads too.
-
not much difference. Just that grocery is live unloaded and it usually multiple stops.
-
GM is drop and swap, in and out, easiest job ever. Grocery is live unload, though usually a drop at the last stop unless is a refer load. I do GM but get used often for grocery, I like being able to go into the store and get some food while they're unloading me as the driver touches nothing but the paperwork!
kruz1980 Thanks this. -
There is more activity pay for the driver at a grocery dc/hvdc. Most WMPV drivers will say it's too much work. Or that they wouldn't like it. But it's regional at a grocery DC, because the reefer has to return to the DC to be reloaded And OTR at most GM dc's.

Except that silly @#$& about gearing down, unhooking the trailer and pulling forward. It's just more driver time and effort wasted which they don't care about since they don't have to pay for it. That crap needs to stop.

When you do a live unload at one of their precious DCs they want you to drop the trailer and pull forward until they get it unloaded. Just a bunch of horse ####.
-
We don't deal with that. That's why we drive for Walmart and not deliver to them.Blue Nomad, billthetrucker, Coover and 3 others Thank this.

Yep, big big difference between a truck driver and a Walmart driver. If everyone who complains about Walmart were to come work here, they'd understand it's a different world. But it's easier to complain than to apply.billthetrucker and Extreme4x4 Thank this.
