BBBBU UT, non mega drivers hit lots of stuff too,
Les we forget the first day driver for a no name company hit the real low overpass,
Or the non mega driver that passed on the right just to turn left into the school bus.
Anybody can lease a Volvo in Chicago and hit the open roads with zero training or knowledge of English.

    passingthru69 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

It's not really not so much a "lack of common sense". "Critical Thinking" stopped being encouraged in public schools many decades ago. These are now fully out into adult society (generally aged 40 and younger today). And education standards in general were also greatly lowered over the same time, and continue to be further degraded little by little. This, IMO, is not happenstance, but rather by design of the modern political class. All this has combined give us what we have today ... A society that wants to be "governed", cradle to grave, so they don't have to deal with the struggles of being self-reliant.

I'm sure all who read this and are 40 or younger will call BS on this statement but you don't know what you don't know. Many had sufficient "grey matter" to overcome the public education system and develop the ability to think critically and independently in spite of the system, but many do/did not and we see them out here every day.

I also blame today's instant and always connected technology and "social media" for a lot of the dumbing down of society we see.

It was rare for me to use my atlas or Google. I blindly followed my copilot for 6 years. I never made front page news either. I also looked for signs. Which was a very rare occasion.

Guess I just know how to set my parameters. And use GPS. (((SHRUG)))

There are also ppl that have drove cars into lakes or off of a bridge from following GPS. Along with the driver for ptl that got stuck in the park.

The bad drivers you saw in 09 are probably trainers now lol.

That right there is probably a major contributor and the reason noobies lean on techy gadgets trying to make up for poor training.

Not quite true. People that want to intentionally off themselves seem very commonsensical.

Toaster + full bathtub = success.
Touching the 3rd rail = success.
Cutting upward through the veins instead of across =....... you get the gist.

It's the people that want to live but are too stupid to benefit from it that are a hazard to us all.
