Your right. I use to bump the cat up to around 950 rpm if I was going to idle overnight etc.
But I would see many who did not and a problem would be raw fuel going around the rings breaking down the oil.

For what you could potentially spend in 3 years, you could have bought and installed an APU that will still have a lot of added value at trade. The money spent with idle-air is just gone, never to be seen again. -
Here's one in a Kenworth T2000 back in June of 2009. You can see the window adapter that you had to have. I only used it a few times for the A/C, but the air smelled like cigarette smoke usually. Still have my silver card too.
Radman, Dye Guardian and motocross25 Thank this. -
I like it because the areas I run I don't need air conditioning for maybe July August and some of June and Sept. So an apu wouldn't really make sense for me as it would cost less to idle the truck for those months. So for me it's useful for those months. If I ran far enough south enough of the year where an apu would make more sense ...I'd go that route.
motocross25 Thanks this. -

Not only that, my tractor is heavy already and I run through states that don't give the exemption... already playing with fire more often than I'd like with weight anyways
