I'm applying for an initial TWIC card. I'm employed at current job but need the card for new job which starts in a few weeks. I gave my current employer on the TWIC application. By the time TWIC shows up in mail I should be working at new job. Does TWIC care about job changes? Do I need to update anything after job change?
If you can afford it, if/when you get HazMat go ahead and get TWIC. Some jobs require it, some don't.
Thanks

I've had my TWIC for almost 7 years now, they really don't care about employment changes. If you do a household move, I would update your address with them.Last edited: Jul 5, 2017

I got notice 2 days after I submitted fingerprints and paid my fee the TWIC card is being mailed. Expected in 5-15 days. Maybe already having HazMat sped things up, I don't know.
My only worry now is I took the opportunity to apply for a Passport. I didn't know until I submitted my paperwork they are going to keep my original birth certificate. It will me mailed back with my passport. They left me with a copy. I'm glad I paid for expedited processing. I hope my new employer doesn't ask for my birth certificate or will accept my copy with my passport paperwork, or will accept the BC when it comes back in a couple of weeks. It did not make me feel good to hear the govt employee laughing about how screwed I would be if the govt loses my original form.slim shady Thanks this. -
That happened to me when I got my Hazmat/ TWIC/ Passport all at the same time (somewhere along the chain of gooberment it was lost). Went to my county of birth, showed them my social sec card/ current license, had my new original in about 2 weeks. Was changing jobs at the time too, but the corporation I currently work for after leaving OTR had no problems with it. It's all worth it in the end, even though it's nerve racking at the same time lol.tscottme Thanks this.

It is a real leap of faith to turn over your original birth certificate to the Feds. I did the same years ago, but no problems. Having a passport is very handy. You never know when you are going to have to flew the coop...
addrenjunky, tscottme and Offroad1978 Thank this. -
I was born overseas to US citizens. "I wasn't born in America, but I got here as soon as I could." The govt employee said they recently doubled the fee for getting a new original from $600 to $1200. I'm not sure if that applies to me or that's what it costs for the new citizens she was talking about before me. I'm not going to loose sleep over it. It's the govt, they know what they are doing.
Wait what?Offroad1978 Thanks this. -
