It depends, 6AM appt, yup, I'm here on time and ready to load, yup.....Well, if it's my truck it starts getting detention pay or I roll, if a company truck I'd call dispatch, advise of the dilemma & let them handle it.
Years ago if a TM allowed that to happen at his docks, holding up shipments and all, he'd be getting a real chewin from mgmt. Do that to a teamster back in the day, oh boy.....
Sounds like that SWH that did that crappy parking job needs a little 5th wheel grease on the door handles, mirrors, and windshield to keep him motivated....
What would you do???

I guess it depends on how well detention pay is... Otherwise I'd be calling dispatch and leaving, going to a truck stop
RedRover and diesel drinker Thank this. -
I would have folded his mirror back flat and put the truck right into the slot without an issue. Maybe not even messed with his mirror, it would be something I would be mean about.
There's plenty of room, you have 18 inches to mess with on the dock plate which doesn't have to be centered to the truck, as long as their is no trailer lock, it is easy.
Done this a bunch of times and I never cried about it, try doing it in the dark while it is pouring out. OR better yet try to get between two trailers that you ended up sitting in the truck without being able to open the door.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 8, 2017

What I would have done was slowly back in and if need be fold in my mirrors and ask the trk next to me to fold in his mirrors. But looks like noone was in the trk so I would ask the customer if they could ask that driver to unhook and move his trk out so you can back in.Some docks are real tight and drivers have to unhook so the driver can back in.
-
Now you are worried about hitting something?
-
The driver parked the truck in the dock crooked and then left and won't be back for a few hours.
Fold the mirrors in and don't worry about it. -
I'd really love to see that straight truck unhook.....loltinytim, diesel drinker and Chinatown Thank this.
-
Did you look to see if they left the keys in the straight truck?
-
Fold the mirrors in may not have worked
It didn't look like a straight truck ull look again. -
Must have been one long straight trk.Looks like a semi to me.
