My Pete burns about a gallon of fuel/hour at an idle. I'm not sure about Volvos....I'd guess it would be similar. Regardless, I'd rather idle and burn fuel and know my truck was going to run rather than take a chance on killing it.

The Volvo is reported to use less, idles a lower rpm against the exhaust brake back pressure to keep temperatures up.
My friend claims between .6 and .7 gph idling on his display in the 780 he drives.Jeck Thanks this. -
We used to have a little valve below the drivers seat manual fuel cutoff down there on the floor.
A little bit of adjustment just so makes a really slow lope idle. As it's barely turns over enough to be allowed a cupful to fill the next power stroke....Jeck Thanks this. -
Look guys get a yellow top optimum battery. Get a little battery charger and get the 12 volt adapter for the cpap machine. If it has a humidifier, have your provider turn it off. With a 80% charged battery, your cpap machine will run for 13 to 14 hours without the battery draining. A fully charged battery, you won't have any issues.
On top of that, you can get a battery boaster to maintain the 12 volts with a battery voltage as low as 9 volts.
You can charge the battery while driving. -
It seems inconvient with provider turn this off turn this on turn that something else. They should start making these things USER configurable on demand at any time at home or on the road without having to go to a doctor appt.
Every time I learn something with these CPAP, the harder I set against these things for myself.
I do appreciate all the information everyone has been putting on this year related to this trend of CPAP first ask questions later.Jeck Thanks this. -
Trucks need a minimum of 11.4 volts to start. Most companies have the shut off set at 12.3. When it hits that preset number it will shut off most electronics.
Some trucks are even equipped with a low voltage warning beeper that will alert you. -
They need to cut down on the threshold a little bit. 12.3 is actually very close to operating threshhold. If the alternator burns up leaving you on batteries with a load still to deliver, you can literally brick that tractor leaving you with a busted appt time and chargebacks on top of repairs.
I like my trucks to show a failure at about 10 volts minimum. That way there is room to salvage the situation and still get to a shop.Jeck Thanks this. -
Those displays are inly an educated guess..There is "No" meter of any sorts to say how much fuel was used..Those suckers are sometimes pretty much dead on or 2-3 mpg off..Even though with these newer trucks (just the last few yrs) they idle fine but me im still a bit ole school and bump the idle anyways..

The humidifier should be on ridge..

I have a cpap and you have a couple options. First one is just buy the 12V plug for your cpap. You can turn the humidifier off yourself if you want and the heated air tube if you have that on also. It kinda suck to use cpap without then, for me anyway.
The second option and the one I been using is you by a cpap battery. They make them for camping or anytime you want to use cpap we're their is no power. You get the 12V plug for the cpap battery kit. Now you can have you cpap running on the batteries and the special cpap battery is recharged during the day driving down the road.
They are not cheap you can run a cpap without humidifier for maybe 14+ hour or more depending on how much pressure you have without recharging it but remember you just get the 12V and it will recharge every day. I'm just saying you can go 14+ hours without recharging if you wanted to go camping or anyplace without power.
If one battery is not enough they have a setup you can buy two batteries and hook them together and basically double you time.
The problem with these modern truck and capap is the low voltage cut off for the power plugs. I got around that with cpap battery kit. So when the low voltage cut all the power off my cpap kees running on the battery
Maybe you can find a better set-up but for $327 for one battery or get two battery setup $537. One battery is ok if you can go without humidifier. I got one battery but my truck has automatic start for heat and a/c. So it starts in middle of the night and recharges the battery when ever the egine is going. Get two if you want humidifier going and maybe you can go 10 hours. I'm not sure I just have one battery but plan on getting the second one.
This Freedom battery seems to be the the only one that can be recharged the same time as your using it

Maybe you can find a better option but this one works and you can get one or two batteries
