Heartland express acquires interstate distribution

Im in Cleveland, I swear I used to see them more is all, I know there still around.

 

Heartland story. When I first started driving back in '97, my wife and I discussed running team, although I would be the only one driving . She rode with me while working for a company on an overnight to NM and back, I dropped her off at the Loves so she wait for me to take the truck back and get off work. When I picked her, this couple had been talking to her about Heartland, and how happy they were, blah, blah, blah. On a whim I called them, the recruiter and I talked, went though all the stuff. When he found out I had a felony conviction, his exact words: "How did you even get a CDL, no one decent will ever touch you, your like nuclear waste, you'd be better off digging ditches. Seriously, whoever conned you into going to CDL school should be fired for stealing your money." WOW.

That was in '97, 20 yrs later, I've only changed companies twice, been with my current carrier 4 months shy of 20 yrs, managed to rack up 2.4 million miles, on my 6th truck. Gee, I wish I could remember his name, wonder where he is now.

 

I heard they had a place in Ocala and heard they where hiring, but could not find it on my way thru florida. I wish I had that address to find it on my next time thru.

 

Yeah sick of doing 50mph because some newbie thinks that space in front of truck is his and i have to back off. Slows down 8 trucks or so every time.

Then you wonder if the idiot did his brake checks and still has them after doing 75 downhill and catches up to you.

Took my cb out of truck tired of yelling at them and rude replies.

 

Real sad to hear as I see the green Interstate trucks all the time and I remember I attended a CDL school right near the Gordon terminal in Millersburg OR which was bought by Heartland.. now Heartland buying Interstate? noooo. Those cool green trucks will be gone then. Replaced with the tacky Heartland logo. I was considering Interstate after doing my year someplace else. Guess will have to look at Marten now.
