My name is Gregory and I am new to the site. I recently purchased a Single axle Kodiak 1991 model with a 3116 cat in it. I am thinking about adding a lift steerable axle to the truck so I can haul a little more weight. It has a 16 foot dump on it. Is this possible? I do have a class b cdl btw. Any help on where to find this and how its done and if its possible would be greatly appreciated. I am in NC.

Only a 16 foot bed? I think you can fill it with Stone to the brim on the volume and load the two axles down nicely. There is no point in trying to install a tag axle around your existing drive shaft and hydraulic bed lifting gear.

Its only a single axle truck.. I don't think I can load it down like that can I? I need a lift axle for the state weigh laws right?

We had a international single axle two speed rear which needed shifting in addition to the high and low range. We fill that box with cast concrete reject light posts bases once or twice without trouble. Frankly all we had to do really is watch certain bridges in Maryland loaded that way.
If you are careful and attentive to your loading, you will be pleasently surprised at what your dump will do for you if you asked it nicely. -
So you did or did not have a lift axle?

Nope. Not that one.
The Super 500 Mack did. Forward of the tandem set.
We filled the beds and off we go.gmanuel1206 Thanks this.
