You just described most of society. Do not want to be part of that group, at all.
What's good about trucking is that you can make good money, quickly pay off your debts (if they're small), and then finally be free (as long as you don't get sucked back into debt again). That's what I'm striving for.
For all of you guys who are out of the hole and really are free, hats off to you. You guys are a role model to follow (financially).

Driver that is something as trucker you must have are it will cost your life are the little you have patients is what makes you a good trucker, know weekly biweekly are monthly is the same at the end of the month, know if all you have is 2000 you better go see quality and get a new truck and find one that is going to pay you good there are lots of good company there on the list one of the best money maker is FedEx custom critical yes it is true but you must first make sure that they will take you also my home great wide is also good don't work for a agent go on there Central dispatch and look for your own loads Jones is also a good one Mercer is also a very good one as far as I see it that would be your best bet with just 2000 on deck good luck driver

I'm going to save up a little more for the down payment. You really provided me with some good options. That's the type of answer I was looking for all along. Thank you so much for all of your help.

You don't want FedEx Custom Critical as a solo. You'll starve.

LONE MOUNTAIN IS OK !
I leased 2 trucks from them.1 volvo (2005) in April 2010/ traded it in on Sept 30th 20112 got a 2009 Pete 387,paid it off on April,28th 2016. It's been sitting in the driveway ever since. Paid for !
Do Not use OTR, THEY ARE VERY PUSHY AND MANY PROBLEM UNITS NOBODY WANTS !!
CONSIDER THIS ;
THE ECONOMY TANKED IN JAN 2016,THE RETAIL SECTOR WAS DYING,PAD WRAP SERVICES WERE GREATLY REDUCED...THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED....ACCORDING TO DAT SERVICES....VAN FREIGHT DROPPED TO 1.32 (GROSS) / MI IN FEB.2016. STAYED LOW UNTIL JAN 2017.
VAN RATES ARE NOW UP AROUND $1.85-$1.90 MI. DEMAND FOR VANS IS UP.

.
I was operating my own authority from May 2013 - April 2016 and finally parked the Pete in the driveway to work for someone else.
It's been a year + now and freight is beginning to move again. Bilateral trade agreements with other countries (instead of "Global Economic Initiatives" i.e.: NAFTA/CAFTA/TPP.) IS BEGINNING TO TAKE SHAPE.
even Texas House Republican Babin....introduced HR bill # 3282 Monday July,17th to delay Mandatory ELD compliance until Dec.18th 2019 !!
...... Great Scott ...what will be next ?

I've expedited for 15 years between 95 and 13. I've heard so many horror stories in that time. They are an uncaring lot for sure.Longway Wrongway Thanks this.

OTR Pulled my credit w/o my permission. Then acted like it didn't happen...sleeze ball.
That told me all I needed to know.....about OTR. -
I'm sure there's more to the story here. They didn't whack you over the head and mug you to get your SSN.....
