    Hey Telcobilly,
I graduate school Nov. 6, and am trying to get on with Swift or Werner, We had a Swift recruiter come to our class also, Our instructer has known him for years and said, Just rememberr,he is a ReCrUiTeR :biggrin_25526:
but most of what he says is true, just scrape off the sugar afterwards. My instructor has been an O/O, Swifty and several others, so he is pretty open to them all and says they are what You make of them,,,,,,,
MY instructor says Swift is a great place to get Experience, get your foot in the door and stay there a year, Then go Shopping for the better job. Hopefully I will find out Monday where I will be heading to get my experience !

Good luck and good Roads !

Well I'm starting to wonder about swift... It seems they either don't like me and my mentor or they are having some serious logging issues. Here's what's happening. Well of course we've been turning in our logs on time and everything but certain logs end up missing. So they tell us we will be put on safety hold if we don't turn them in. Ok well I turned in my missing log (which i'm 100 % i turned in the original) again for the 2nd time and he also turns in the ones he said they said they had originally fixed. Well come to find out even after his 3rd or 4th correction to the logs and my 2nd attempt we are still on saftey hold. He said he has had about enough of it. It seems like they are trying to force drivers into safety hold or something. I told him if it's a matter of being short of freight why don't they just put a hiring freeze like most other companies that would just make sense if you ask me. It really seems like they are trying to irritate drivers into quitting or something. Any other swift drivers having these issues lately or is this maybe a terminal issue.

When I drove for them I went through a spell where they said they were missing a log or two. I told my DM that I was making a copy of everything that was going into the trip pak envelope and I would write on he front of the envelope "Logs for 2/1, 2/2, 2/3 Included" and make a copy of that trip pak envelope. After that I never had another missing log sheet. I don't know if they got better or they knew I was tracking it.

To their defense, understand they are scanning thousands of documents a day. It would be good if they would get set up to use Transflo or TripPak Scan. It woul make things much easier for them and less chance of missing (or more commonly) misplaced paperwork.

If you're continually having log problems, you can take them to the log admin at a terminal and have him scan them in on the spot, and if there's a problem with it that's causing it to fail they can help you fix it. They're usually pretty good about it if you've been having issues.

And the recruiter that came to our class said that the dedicated lines were for experienced Swift drivers only, Newbies could only choose 907,910,909 or 48 states,,,,,,
Our recruiter gave us a brochure with lots of info and zones in it, I tried to find it on there site but to know avail, if you want I would scan it and send it to you ??

    Good luck and Good roads

Governed, I think your totally right about them trying to get people to quit. My boyfriend had worked for them for 8 months with no problem until now.
About two weeks ago he attempted to quit because freight is so low he cant survive off the paychecks. They said to be patient and give it more time and did not route him home. Well since then they have given him two service failures. The first one he was handcuffed and detained by police at a terminal (someone had stolen something and they were checking everyone) and was late to pick up his load. The second one the headlights on his truck were flickering at night but onroad couldnt figure out how to fix it. Well he was dispatched to pick up a load and called them to take it off of him since he couldnt drive. The next day they called and said he was getting a service failure since nothing was wrong with his truck (the lights didnt work!).
Now hes being summoned back to his home terminal for a meeting to discuss a manual log audit they are doing on him. Apparently if they find so many items that they deem "suspicious" hes gone. Needless to say hes distraught, hes worked very hard for this company and now it seems hes being booted.
What I find unbelievable is that they are still hiring and still operating the schools. They are bringing in new people everyday and paying them cheap while their experienced drivers are being told freight is low and to wait it out. In my opinion, all this company wants (due to this economy) is the new people who they can pay cheap and to weed out the others.

If anyone has any advice for my boyfriend that would be greatly appreciated. :biggrin_2552:

This company and others seem to just "churn" cheap drivers. Write your representative about what this company is doing. At least it is on record even if the rep does nothing. Every driver needs to write their rep's about the fraud being perpetrated by these companies. You are not the only one this has been and I expect will happen more and more with this economy as it is.

Go to Central Refrigerated thread and read wolfdens post. There are many others. Many wives and girlfriends with the same type of stories, because their partners are to busy trying figure out what the hell is going on.

I understand your frustration, so do not take this the wrong way. I am just being honest here. First if he wanted to quit, he could have put in for hometime and then taken the truck back and quit. The service failures, the first one if the police were detaining him, he should have told his DM of the situation and would have been taken off the load. The second one even since breakdown did not find anything wrong with his lights , he should have contacted his DM right away, and then Safety and told them of the problem. He would have been taken off the load right away with no repercussions. Safety RULES! DM's will not question safety.
He is being called back for a manual log audit because he is apparently doing them wrong. You have to remember that logs are a government document that will stand up in court. If he were to have a accident with logs not filled out correctly your boyfriend would be charged with a felony and sent to jail for a long time. Swift is not only covering their rear but they are also covering your boyfriends. If he needs help understanding the logs he should ask.
Swift still has the schools because there is enough frieight if your not running right and advancing yourself to death you will not make money

It cost Swift more to put those students through school and house them and train them then it does to hire an experienced driver. Your boyfriend is not makeing bundles of money over them, after the students are with a mentor within six months they are making the same as your boyfriend.:biggrin_25511:

Think about it , if they weeded out the experienced drivers who would train the students? If your boyfriend wants to make decent money maybe he should look into being a mentor as that is where the money is at.:yes2557:

Slow freight and weeding out experienced drivers for students is the biggest falscey in the industry. :biggrin_25510:

steelerfan67 is right! I had that problem until i made my logs neat within the boxes, straight lines flaged correctly. And as far as those comfort zones,if you wana make money do all 48,you go where the freight is,those dudes who complain do comfort zones! And if you get homesick or miss your family you shouldnt be OTR.Go get a local job.And you can go to any DM or planner at any terminal and get a load.Ya gota hustle not sit on your *#*#*#and complain.I get 5,000 to 6,000 a week at swift im happy! Drive Safe IM OUT, Lost Dutchman.:biggrin_25516::biggrin_25511::yes2557:
