The process is interesting.
Talked to guy this morning I deal with frequently. He had a several loads available from and to where I was going. He offered me $2,500. I told him I wanted $2,800. "No way they'll take that right now..." Okay, I said, talk to you later. Hung up and booked a load for $2,800.
Phone rings an hour later, "hey, turns out they will take pay $2,800..."
Too late, man. Sorry.

My favorite line I've been using with these brokers lately is, "you can pay me now, or pay someone else more later."

I understand the market is cyclical and based on capacity. However, it's sure nice when I have the opportunity to use that line on them
SidewaysBentHalo, KB3MMX, justatrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Your second broker got you set up in a few minutes. Do business again with that second broker. He showed that hes FAST doing information with you and your company.
First broker is a POS 22 hours for a simple rate qoute. Discard him and don't do any more business with him. Time is your money. Don't sit around 22 hours waiting on a number. Get moving loaded. Your second broker had that number for you in 3 minutes poof done. He wins. You win. Fire the first broker.
If I was a broker I already know to have a rate to you in 5 minutes. Time is money. And Im not even a broker. or know very much about it. But I will do this information FAST to you so you come to me in the future for more loads. Win win all around. -
I was shocked mostly because he was screaming that we needed to adopt a professional behavior. Hahalaaylor Thanks this.

I was thinking to send him an e-mail asking to have a note regarding the timeframe. Poor guy seems to work for a weird company. I hope he realizes that he needs to leave asap. He seemed a nice person in an unfortunate position.

This exact same scenario has happened to me several times.....and I SWEAR it is 2 bored brokers messing with me! The first time I felt bad the second time I said tough crap slow poke YOU lost your company and me a load!! Try harder next time or don't call me again!

They wanted a TON of information. We've been in this business for over 6 years and never had so many information to give away. They wanted references from 4 brokers we have worked with during the last 6 months and we had to provide not only the contact info but also the MC# for each... + all kinds of little details like this. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to fill that package.
I was not in a hurry, the load was coming to our hometown so, I thought that it was ok to wait. The new load happened very quick without me even searching for it. so, I had no time to let him know.
Judging by his voice, he was at least in his 50's. so, no, not a kid. -
Ultra Logistics. We have RTS Credit access and they are rated C... aka not extraordinary. So, no big loss with them. In 6 years of trucking I haven't heard of them.

I am sorry! It is weird.

I did think about that, too. That was why I was very surprised by his attitude. But to each their own.
