My whole career, weather never shut me down. Even when the whole state of Kentucky was shut down due to ice, I still ran the highways and roads all over Kentucky because food & fuel loads were exempt from shutting down. Kentucky state trooper pulled me over and checked my BOL to make sure I was hauling food. The other states I ran in were pretty bad, but Kentucky was really bad.
You're in the wrong type of trucking.I don't see how you can take care of your family working part time. Get a full time job pulling a reefer and you'll never miss a paycheck.

When I ran ready we occasionally still poured. On every other days we would run 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. It boils down to money management.

We don't have that problem too much in Phoenix. A few days here or there, but then you go balls to the wall to get back on track, so you get OT.

Now I were a younger man, and lived in Sack of Tomatoes, you had to squirrel away every penny, and could always look forward to being dead broke by the time February ended. Very green area though.

When I did dirt in S. Ca. and we got rained out, I was happy to get the day off or 2 days. We got in-employment for our missed days, almost as much as a normal days pay.How about S, Carolina? have you checked ?

Funny things is... this guy complained about not wanting to do OTR because drivers don't get paid for their 10 hr breaks and 34 hr resets yet he's been stuck at home for days at a time. And guess how much money he's making while at home? Same amount as a trucker on a 10 hr break or 34 hr reset. Amazing. Tell your boss he should pay you detention pay. Good luck.
