    Hey all,

I try not to idle my truck, I have one of those bunk heaters where you don't have to run the engine.

But with no idle I can hear all the trucks next to me idling and it drives me nuts. At home I use a white noise machine which works great.

Does anybody know of a white noise machine with a cigarette adapter?

Any other methods of drowning out the outside noises to get a good sleep? ie earplugs.

    All responses appreciated,

    Jason

I used to use earplugs, but cant sleep with them anymore, but now I just use a cig lighter fan, it seems to drown out most of the noise. You can still hear them when they take off or when you get one of those annoying trucks where the persone wont fix the air leak and you hear to air pop off all night long.

Bose makes sound eliminating headphones that people say work great on airplanes for getting sleep.

if your truly tires enough the noise shouldn't bother you but ear plugs or headphones if you can wear them. Myself after time you just get use too the noise.

i used to try and park nose in the parking spot, keeping the idling tractors and running reefers at the other end of my truck. it didn't always work out, but i had pretty good luck with that technique.

I've tried both noise cancelling headphones (just get bad earaches from sleeping on them) and earplugs (work good but can't hear alarm clock). Catch 22, my advice just get used to it and if you can afford it use Idleaire and hotels more often. Both of which you can get a little back on in taxes even as a company driver.

You'll eventually get used to it.

But there will always be that one clown with the straight pipes and the jake brake...coming through the parking lot.
