Hoovestol Inc., he raved about his contract-clean, predictable, consistent work, freight is sometimes full truck and sometimes one tiny bucket of mail but he never has any overweight issues, USPS runs like clockwork, pick up is efficient and they do not waste his time, Hooverstool does slip seat so no pets or riders if you drive their trucks, the USPS does their own pre-trip on his trucks, he has three trucks running these lanes and his situation is very profitable -

Which of these contractors run in TN (Knoxville), are there contractors that will hire you like a O/O with your own truck?

Does anyone know if mail contractors can make you take their 401 K or Insurance for that matter?
Also out of my location, one contractor wants to only pay $4.70 for H&W but most others are paying $5.11 at the same location. Is there a place I can go t o see what contractors are suppose to pay for H&W? -

H&W benefits are set depending on the origination location for the contract and when the contract was signed.
A person doesn't "lose" H&W pay after 40hrs. It just isn't required to be paid. Can't lose what you don't have to begin with.
You can ask for the Wage Determination but they don't have to show it. -
Why do so many drivers for mail contractors work 2 or 3 hours a day for free?
I know of one run that takes 12 hours to complete but the drivers only get paid for 10 hours. Another run takes 14 hours and sometimes 15(6 days a week, paper logs) to complete but only pays 12, and just recently a contractor is trying to hire workers to do a run that starts at 2:30AM and ends at 5:30 PM but claims it pays between 12 1/2 - 14 hours. You do the math. Of course the last job runs paper logs. That company is pretty much asking you to break the law as you couldn't pull away from the dock and drive if you over 14 hours.
Another run the contractor only pay 17 hours when it clearly takes 18, along with a non paying 12 hour layover. For the week, a driver is out 93 hours and only gets paid for 51. I guess some truckers like to work for free.Last edited: Jul 18, 2017
