    Been on the road a few months. Have had great miles some weeks followed by a lot of sitting around the next. Driving OTL for a local company and mainly only home when I ask to be.
    Besides staying out of the truck stops, what are some ways to save money or earn extra income while out on the road?

    Learn how to cut and polish chrome and aluminum. Get your supplies like rouge, DeWalt variable speed grinder with some buffing wheels and some cutting wheels then offer up your services at the truck stops. I did it a few times and made a couple of hundred on a few weekends

    Hone your panhandling skills and bumb spare change off the other drivers at the truckstops.

    Sell gloves, good ones, better than the truckstop junk. Buy wholesale. Leather work gloves and fueling gloves. 3 sizes.

    You could add in driving gloves but good ones are expensive without much profit margin.

    When I drove OTR someone at a truck stop was always trying to sell me briefcases or highly discounted "top of the line" hand tools. There were so many of those people at every truck stop, I figure it must be a real moneymaker....:p
