I doubt you'll have a difficult time finding a job. Trucking field is desperate for decent drivers and you dont sound like a hazard. Just stay away from trouble and file applications to beginner companies (e.g., Schneider, Prime). Good luck.

    I disagree.

Trucking field is desperate for decent drivers and you sound like a hazard is more like it.

I've been driving for years, decades and had a bunch of cars without a working speedo and never got a 22 over the limit ticket, never got pulled over in any car that without a working speedo so that's just plain crap.

I'm not saying he's going to get hired by a company like Old Dominion. A company like Swift or CR England will likely give him a shot.

I'm just looking for a chance to get my foot in the door somewhere. The ticket wasnt considered reckless and I have the same points on my license as someone who got a ticket for 5 over. The same cost to pay it as well. I have slowed way down since then and dont expect any more tickets anytime soon. Im planning on calling a few companies tomorrow (local and major) to see what they have to say and Im going to move forward from there.

I think you should try to purge that ticket off your record. In California, we call the Mandatory Actions line on a 916 area code and they can clean up the MVR. You couldn't have gone to traffic school on this? Call up a traffic lawyer and see if they can reopen the case, and reduce it to something that is not a moving violation.

It doesn't Hurt to apply, they are not pulling credit. I'm not a fan of Community Colleges. If you go to a professional school. You can get Pre-Hire letters. I think they check MVR but not criminal before Pre Hire but I may be wrong

Years ago I got hired by a company with a 21 mph over ticket (in an ungoverned semi, 86 in a 65 on the PA turnpike), but the MVR didn't state the speed--it just said "speeding" and the date. Granted, I did already have experience--I wasn't getting my first job.

Pull your MVR yourself and see what it says exactly. A 2 year old speeding ticket might not phase them if they don't know how epic it was.

Whats your plan 10 years from now when all the trucks are automated? Are trucking jobs increasing because drivers are changing careers or retiring?
