If you remove the magnetic relay switch from a 39MT and it fails they will more than likely void the warranty. I had one they refused to warranty because of that, so now I make sure any 39 starters that are installed the switch stays on.

    swaan Thanks this.

So just keep it and put it back on when you bring it in for Warrenty.

Personally ive had nothing but issues with those stupid relays.

Take it off and never had a problem since. Also ive never had to use the Warrenty on a 39mt. There perty good starters. Maybe im just lucky.

The next time it clicks take a test light and put it on the highlighted area and try to start. If it just clicks and the test light lights up then the starter solenoid is bad. We usually replace the whole starter rather than just the solenoid.

I have the 42mt. Does it go on the same? I replaced just the selenoid before and it was good for a week then clicked again, so I replaced the starter/selenoid and it was good for a week or two, started clicking again. That's when I ran the cable directly from the negative battery post and cleaned off all the ground cable locations. Was great for 2 weeks no issues, then it clicked again. It clicked one time and the second time I pushed the button it fired up. The only thing I haven't replaced is the long cable from positive to starter and the short negative from battery to frame. Also I found that whoever had the truck before me replaced the long positive cable and others, like the pigtail but never removed the old ones. When it clicks the starter never engages so something is happening in some type of relay before it signals the starter.

Follow your big wires from the starter motor on that centry, you should run into a little box that is called a relay. Toss that #### thing. Connect big wires together.

I never had to do that with my century because it was new that year. But the battery box is another thing to look over carefully. If you had the cover off in bad winter weather, crap will get into the batteires and raise all kinds of hell.

Sounds like same issue I'm having it's driving me nuts, when I go turn turn my truck in it does not turn over just clicks in the cab, I cleaned all battery terminals and wires, I replaced selonoid at fire wall, took all cables off starter and cleaned, still just clicks, I have been starting my truck with a wrench at the selonoid on the fire wall can also start with wrench on selonoid on starter, I have also checked fuses, can someone tell me if this is because my starter is broken or is there a way I can test it without having to take it out of the truck, this is on a Detroit series 60.

Sounds like the power from the key switch is not making it to the firewall solenoid if you have to jump it there, plus you already replaced it.
