Moving I-beams. Securement tips

You would think. Granted, I haven't done actual calculations of force, momentum and the like, but I don't "feel" like any amount of securement can completely hold under full braking. I was told that in school and at my company. It's why Smith-System driving is so important and avoiding hard braking at all costs.

The driver in that video did more than what he was required by law, and he still had it shift forwards.

 

I'd like to see your calculations when you're done with them.

I'm sorry but that's absurd. Securement may fail under accident conditions, where g forces can hit double digits, but if I can hit the brakes and have stuff move, I haven't done my job. I haven't watched that video, but one problem with straps is that it's easy to have them come loose, and harder to see that they are loose without getting out to check. I suspect his chains were loose, and no amount of loose chains will keep that load in place.
