It'll come back quicker than you think. I'm an old flatbedder from 30 years ago, 56 myself. Why I quit trucking, I'm not sure, but I wish I hadn't have.

It's definitely different from that B61 Twin Stick we grew up on. These trucks today are like mini-RVs. Of course traffic is a lot more congested, friggin' construction zones everywhere, even disrespectful truck drivers out there.

Why did I start back trucking? As a 30 year construction electrician, I couldn't keep up with the young bucks anymore. My body just won't do it. I was looking at disability and I wouldn't settle for that. One day I had this ephifany. Maybe I could drive again, just not having to rig, tarp loads. Did my due diligence in searching for a company that suits me, not a mega carrier. Voila, Millis Transfer, right down the road in Richfield!

Of course your truck is gonna break, you'll run out of hours, et. al,,, something to put you back but you'll figure out.
The day I tested out, my dispatcher William took me and my trainer to lunch at Re-Petes. William told me to just stay in touch, keep the comm Lines open, let me know what's going on. Five weeks later and I'm happy as that blue bird.

Wassup y'all. Today, I'm comin' at ya from Green, Ohio. Or as I call it, Home Sweet Rental. I left my mistress at the truck stop, wished my travel agent (Opie) a good weekend, and headed straight to my deck and cracked a beer. And now I'm talking to you fine folks. Life is good :) I have a heavy chore list ahead of me but for now just I'm listening to the sound of locusts and absolute peace. No deer today, they must be bedded down in the shade. I don't blame them, it's a warm one here today. Last time I posted I was in Cartersville. I dropped my trailer and at the time there was ample room for my dropped trailer and my now bobtailed truck. Holy crap I'm glad I got there when I did, because that yard was dam near capacity when I woke up and got moving. I hooked my load and pushed on out. I made it to the Flying J in Jeffersonville before I shut it down last night. Of course, I lost my private number for early loads. So, I showed up at 8 and got in line. It still paid off to be early, there was only one truck waiting ahead of me. Not a real bright guy, either. Not sure why he was parked where he was, but he was out of sight when I moved to get into position. I saw him there and asked another driver who was currently docked if that guy was in line. He said yes, so I moved back to the "on deck" position. I waited for 5 minutes and he still wasn't moving, so I walked to his truck to make sure he was in line. "Oh, yeah, sorry". He didn't end up docking for another 10 minutes! Look, tard, I'm trying to get home. Move your butt or lose your spot. I am way too polite about that crap. He gave me another apology and got himself docked. Crimany man, some of us are trying to get somewhere. I'll give you 1 guess on the company, just don't post your guess here. There are 2 docks for this particular load, and the first driver left so I started setting up for my dock. The other guy started freaking out because he thought I was getting too close to his truck. This was not a blindside, I had full view, and was never closer to him than 2 feet. He must be a real hoot at a truck stop with tight parking, good lord. I know that the DOT is super strict on drugs, but if ever there was a guy who needs Xanax, it's him. Good call letting him go solo  I was unloaded very quickly as always with this place. I'm not used to pulling in to my home truck stop and seeing as many spots as I did. But, it was 9am. Normally I'm either picking through the leftover blindsides or grabbing a reserved spot. This was a refreshing change. If you've followed my posts for a while, you already know how I operate. Tonight I park for free. Tomorrow I'll go to reserved. Monday I'll move back to free, because I head out on Tuesday. That's how you park for 5 days and only pay for 3. I'm giving you pearls here, hope you wrote that down. The day will eventually come where I'm making O/O money and can pay for space in a staging lot. But for now, that's how I save money when I come home. Alrighty y'all I'm gonna take a nap and start on my research chore list. This burden shouldn't be mine but as the saying goes...if you want something done right....

Peace y'all. Be safe out there and keep the rubber side down. Talk at ya tomorrow.

So when they bumped the pay, they lowered the safety bonus from .02 a mile to .01? That sucks thats about a $300 per quarter loss of pay. Also confused on how the miles are figured for the quarter. I came back May 3 so wouldnt every mile I've driven since I've been back be included for the quarterly bonus? Theres about 10k miles missing, I'm confused lol

You're confused? Just spoke to Alice in recruiting confirming class on Monday. Now I can't get the words to "Alice's Restaurant" out of my head.
