I respect your opinion but that fact is it's not like I just started in the trucking industry while at the same time I'm still a novice considering I only have a few yrs of experience. Also, didn't say anything about making money. However, despite your assumptions about me without any facts to back it up, I do understand where you're coming from & I'll give you some credit since you did make some valid points that apply to certain people. I'm simply here to gain advice from those that have more experience than me.

The reason you see so many tri drives in Canada is because however many years ago they changed the rules from lift axles to they had to stay on the ground. SPIF I think it was called.
Dye Guardian, cke, noluck and 4 others Thank this. -
They still are speced the same way. The sleeper and lift axles might be different, but the drivetrain is the same.cke, Oxbow, snowman_w900 and 2 others Thank this.

I heard they stopped getting steerable pusher axles, is that true.cke, Oxbow, snowman_w900 and 1 other person Thank this.

In 20 years I've never once said "man I wish I had a tri drive". With my non steerable pusher down steering is a pain I can't imagine not being able to lift it. Plus the added weight and parasitic drag would outweigh almost any advantage in my line of work.
-
I couldn't say for sure. I had a 2002 with steerable pusher. Now I have a 2012 with non steerable, but one of the guys in Madison got a 2015 day cab and it has steerable. The new KW's that have come into our yard from the big C had non steers. One was a W9 and the other was a wide hood T800.

The Michigan log haulers have been getting tri drives and one guy swears it is a gift from the messiah and the next cant keep tires on it.Dye Guardian, cke, MJ1657 and 4 others Thank this.

In Columbus the newest one is a 14 and it has a steerable but my buddies said there are non steerables out there. They're do for a new one so we'll see.
-
We are due for new ones also, but instead they got us some from other yards. Trying to utilize equipment they already had on hand. They got some tandems from the dads fleet that are loaded to the hilt. Fridge, 70" bunks and leather seats.
cke, passingthru69, MJ1657 and 6 others Thank this. -
Now see we were always told you guys got the best stuff and the red army got the cheap stuff.
