I carry three. If I carry only one I lose it in a week. If I carry spares I could leave one leaning against the tire and 700 miles later it will somehow still be there.

Man I have one of our local straight truck drivers who thinks the grease needs to be 3" thick. I've caught him a few times trying to put more in and he doesn't get that it's just going to get pushed off. Have had to tell him multiple times to not worry about it, if it needs more I'll handle it.OLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, DDlighttruck and 2 others Thank this.

There's three there, the short ones hard to see. Two fifth wheel pullers too, they came with the truck.
Binder bars are $10-15 each.OLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, johndeere4020 and 2 others Thank this. -
If you're keeping chains in a box, go to a farm store (TSC, Rural King, Big R, Farm & Fleet, Orscheln, etc...) and they have the soft, rubber feed bowls. The 4-quart size works great...1 chain per bowl. Keeps them from getting all tangled up with each other in the box...stack pretty well, too, especially if you have shorter chains.
Grubby, barroll, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 5 others Thank this. -
That's what I want to doDDlighttruck and cke Thank this.

Was thinking the same thing!!! Use to use peanut butter grease in packing seals on water pumps for drilling. It is so stiff your truck would likely "half track" trying to turn on wet roads lol!Airborne, cke, DDlighttruck and 1 other person Thank this.

Seen this while I was running errands today, nice setup. Thought of @superhauler when I give it a second look lol.

here's an in frame I made. Two boxes about 6inches deep lids are smaller than the boxes underneath which are as wide and long as possible between frame and cross members. I have tried several types of weather stripping but they still get damp inside. I use them for boots and coveralls and my oh crap chain which is rather rusty. They whole thing is steel and I'm confident the boxes will rust out in several years
